Up isn't an issue an issue with me...up or down on most days I don't care...playing it up everywhere except the bunkers makes zero sense.
Thats a quote from the pro asshat.
What are you talking about?

Beau Chene. Another good option with a similar drive, benefit of being fully private and two courses. Really have no info on how the course looks now a days as it's been over a year since I have played there. Also not sure how the member culture is there and if they do a lot of member events.

There are generally two tournaments a month for members, one club event and one MGA (Mens Golf Association - optional join for like $125/year). Oak is in really good shape right now (fairways and greens) but the bunkers there suck, really really bad (on both courses). Some are good and some are awful. Drainage is terrible and they have side walls so the crew takes all the sand from the middle of the bunker and pushes it to the walls and you're left with clay, rocks and even exposed plastic covering on the bottom for mid day rounds in alot of them.

That being said, a very diverse membership base, great for families, easy to find casual groups, gambling groups, morning groups, afternoon groups.

They can have alot of outside tournaments there so sometimes it is a PIA to get a tee time and sometimes even both courses are closed but pace of play is fantastic (3.5 hours for a foursome).

TONS of OB and the white stakes are on the golf course side of the ditches between the homes and the course rather than the homeowners side so in quite a few instances, if you miss a green pin high and you're 2' off the green, you could kick OB.

Oak is less forgiving off the tee than Mag and I think the layout of Mag is better.

Costs are generally low up front but they nickel and dime the hell out of you charing extra for the driving range plan, it's like $20 for a 9 hole cart. On course food is essentially non existent so don't expect a turkey or chicken salad sandwich sandwich if you're hungry BUT the bar and grill for after play is nice and they have a good happy hour.

If comparing Gresytone and BC I would put it like this:

Beau Chene has 36 holes as opposed to 18 and is the winner with course variety and it helps with pace of play. They also are a better option for fitness, tennis, pickleball, youth swim team, evening events like steak night, bingos, bourbon nights, fireworks and holiday parties. It's more of a "traditional" old course feel with alot of protected elevated greens, oak trees, scenic water, etc.

Greystone will more focus on golf and is more "modern" in terms of design (rolling fairways in places), its longer and it's usually more "consistent" with conditions but that's much of a byproduct of having to maintain one course rather than two.

Side note: bonus for good Friday games. I am off on Fridays and always easy for me to get a round in so a big plus would be skins games etc on Friday mornings.

Friday afternoons are BIG at beau chene, bigger than Saturdays and Sundays in most instances. The mornings are generally for the older golfers but mid mornings, early afternoon into the afternoon you can generally find 3-4 games of 2-4 groupings all playing different games.

Might would take a look at some of the maxfli tour balls, better quality with a good price point until you are comfortable not losing multiple per round.

Going with a MINT mid-upper tier ball like AVX, Maxli Tour, TPX, Chromesoft from somewhere like LostGolfBalls.com is the way to go IMO

What I meant was that the USGA created the rule and he wasn't doing anything to improperly lower his handicap.

Assuming the rule has been adopted by the course, sure. Most public and muni courses have adopted it but most private courses have not.

I will enter scores with fluffed lies or a bunker I rake or move my ball around a little because in the end, I think it's a wash. In casual rounds, I may fluff a ball but I won't read every green on every chip. I wont walk the entire way around the ball on every putt or ensure I read the putt from below the hole on every putt like I will in a tournament. In casual rounds I may gain strokes on approach and in tournament rounds I gain more around the green but I think it's more accurate to accumulate as many recent rounds as possible to determine flight separation between people of similar abilities.

The only rounds I won't enter are ones I determine ahead of time that are purely "practice" as in:

-I am only using driver or hybrid off the tee
-Clubbing up and swinging easier on all mid irons
-Clubbing down and swinging full

Etc etc etc

That is definitely an official rule.

No its not, it's a local rule.

Also why in the frick do they insist on 16 oak playing at 200 yards every damn time now?

It'd a fricking joke. Course is sloped and rated with that hole playing 152 yards and 90% of the time (AT LEAST) the tee boxes are 40 yards past that and if you're playing twilight or a money game against a senior, they hit from 115.

Fred has one foot out the door and is just complacent to do things the way they have been done. "We're gonna play it up today everywhere except the bunkers." :casty:

Royal Caribbean completely prohibits all extension cords,

This is part of what is confusing people because this is NOT allowed

BUT, this is.

The key to remember is that the cord itself is not banned but it cannot extend the all outlet OR add more outlets. It can only add USB / USB-C plugs.

One tip to remember is to bring a European converter to use the in-room euro outlet to add one extra.

We also bring a couple fans that mount with a magnet to the cabin walls.

Fly into MCO the night before you sail, rent a car from budget, drop it off the next day at the port and they will shuttle you to the pier.

I've been considering going the day/night before just to make my life easy (especially w 3 little ones).

Always fly in the day before.
Don't miss the crazy quest game show..look for it on your cruise planner

Get the drink package

No need to buy anything extra at Coco Cay. Start at the beach, move over to the lagoon pool, drink package works there too.

Not sure what ship you're on but book any shows you can in advance in the cruise planner.

We are closed on Monday too and normally the pins are changed on Saturday but having two courses helps if I play one each day but the same pins and tee boxes on the weekends is lazy.
quote:

I like the idea of having real, on course shot distance data -

Not a fan of this. Not only does it slow down pace of play on the course the composite data isn;'t very useful unless you're adding notes to each shot, selecting what shots remain and what ones get deleted, etc.

I hit my 52 yesterday, once I hit a 3/4 it to a front pin 100' out into the wind and another, downwind to a two tier green playing 125 and I would say both shots had a carry distance difference of maybe 30 yards.

On the course, play the hole, play the course, use what you know about your distances to play different shots based on the course, conditions, game / match, etc.

I hit three 4i...one, I was running it low from the trees about 120 out and it went maybe 90 yards. Another, was from the center of the fairway and another was a punch shot on a par 5 as a layup curling it around some bunkers.

Or maybe Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday mornings.

I would much rather different pins on Saturday / Sunday.

I think changing the pins on Wednesday morning, Friday morning and Sunday morning makes sense. On days you don't move the pins (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday; move the tee boxes)

I am a surgeon with the 60 from 40-60 but like my 56 green-side and out of most bunkers unless short sided. My course has alot of gree-side bunkers and there are times I miss wide of the bunker. With elevated greens, my only hope to get it high enough to land on the green, clear the bunker and not roll off is to open the face on a 60. It's not a club I need until I do.

You chose shitty tours and a bad hotel.
Pompei and Almalfi are my top two options for naples as well. Get back in time for pizza in naples before boarding the ship and skip MDR dining that evening.
