While I don’t get the hate for Tulane, I do understand why we wouldn’t want to play them.

It’s really a no win situation for LSU. If we win, no one cares cuz we were supposed to win. If we lose, it’ll be like 10 Troy losses. It’ll be a loss to an inferior in-state opponent.

Because I think Fritz has Tulane going in the right direction, I’m thinking that a game against Tulane will be even less attractive to LSU. The better they are, the less likely LSU will be to risk a loss.

Because frick Tulane, LSU has all the leverage , notoriety, and money, and if they want a cut , they can drag their asses on a Orleans Parish recovery school district bus up to Baton Rouge.

Less aggressive answer: Tulane would benefit more by playing LSU at home to receive the free check for showing up, getting air time on SEC Network or ESPN streaming, and a chance for lower caliber local players to still get a chance to shine on Louisianas biggest stage.

Just appease Tulane and play one game in the stadium on their campus

It seats 30,000. Nice little AstroTurf field but not a place to host an LSU type game. Was there 2 seasons ago for a Tulane homecoming game ( SMU) and the Stadium was barely half full. People seem to be having a good time but I’m sure there are some HS games that draw more.
(The highlight for me was the 2 chicks making out in the student section)

I’d like to see LSU at Yulman?. It seats 30K and as long as LSU gets their allotted tickets like any other SEC game I would do my best to attend. Great tailgating, quick ride home, and not usl background noise for a chance wouldn’t be all that bad.

LSu should play Tulane every year home and home and NOT the dome but at Tulane stadium. There’s more to life than money and if I were governor this would absolutely happen. You youngsters that bow to money are pathetic. As Tevye says TRADITION!

You could give LSU 30K allotted tickets to play at Yulman and it wouldn't be enough.

LSU does not need to play anyone remotely close to Tulane’s level on the road. Give them a game at LSU every now and then and be done with it.

Hell yeah! And we should still have a home and home with Sewanee every year, too! Traditions!

The question isn't "why not", the question is "why". Is there a benefit?

If Oklahoma can come to their “high school” stadium then so can LSU

Absolutely. I guess I don't see why other programs can schedule these types of in-state games, but we always have to question how Tulane "benefits" us.

Penn State has played at Temple. Oklahoma has played at Tulsa. Ohio State has played at Cincinnati. Michigan State has played at Central Michigan. None of those games were that long ago either.

If we play Tulane on those two dates, both games should be in Tiger Stadium. Offer them a reasonable financial deal and tell them to take it or leave it. Throughout the decades I have taken the position that we have nothing to gain by playing them but to tell you the truth I kind of miss the old rivalry. Maybe I am getting nostalgic in my old age.

That's the thing with this though. No way Tulane is playing us for free. We'd have to pay them to play us, and then travel to their stadium? I'm out.

Dogs peeing on the carpet goes back a century and is traditional.
WE need not support all traditions, Tevye notwithstanding.

If LSU plays a game in New Orleans vs Tulane, it should be done in the Superdome.
