7-5 isn't acceptable. Not with all the people we brought in. It was diff when Saban went to Bama. He had to build up the team with recruits. IT's diff now.
There is no way LSU with CLK is going 7-5. That means we lose to OM, UT, UT, Bama, and A&M or Auburn.

The realist in me would say "well...it's his first year, the schedule is brutal, it's an entirely new roster...what else would anyone reasonably expect?"
The other side of me would question why LSU and its boosters spent $40-50 million on a roster and another $20 or so million on the coaching staff for this season to get another Texas Bowl appearance.

would be disappointed because that most likely means you lost all of your hardest games and at least 3 of them are at home.

Cignetti went 11-1 his first year at Indiana. I have similar expectations for Lane. Cignetti has already given the blueprint on what needs to be done turning a 3-9 team into a 11-1 team. People always talk about his advanced age of his players but forget that his team was fundamentally sound just like Saban's team. Playing good fundamental football, good Oline and hold his players accountable. Lane Kiffin should have looked at what they did at Indiana and just recreated the same thing.

My guess is 2027 NIL donations would not be near the level of 2026. . .
Would be hard to get the booster class fired up about that level of performance versus the spend made in 2026.

With the amount of money invested, that is not acceptable. With pay for play, and the portal the expectation should be able to win immediately. It doesn't have to be a conference championship, or national championship, but with the investments made being in the top 12 and in discussion for the playoff should be the benchmark.

I must reluctantly agree that a 7-5 record is NOT outside the realm of possibility. Every game in the SEC is a tough one. No cream puffs.

You didn't have a complete overhaul. Your defense is basically the same staff with upgraded personnel. It wasn't an overhaul nor was it cleaning house.

I mean, I get what you are saying, BUT have you looked at the schedule they played that year? It was laughable. Beyond a Big 10 schedule....a BAD Big 10 schedule. Kind of like A&M in the SEC last year.
That being said... 9-3 minimum or its a huge dissapointment.
