This has to be the most excited the fan base has been for an upcoming season in a very long time. I’m trying to remember any others that came close.

2019- nobody really saw that season coming. The hype wasn’t there.

2022- I don’t remember the fan base being super fired up for BK.

2014- Fournette had some hype but was a true freshman

2015- this might be it. We knew what we had.

2016- after Fournettes huge breakout in 15 and returning so much experience this was the year. Hype was real.

2012- big year after wasting that all time iconic 11 defense.

I get irrationally hyped and start to feel like we're winning the natty right around this time every year, but that's just me

Well for years we were promised a new offense and that it would be different than last year.

Fast forward to 2019 we finally got that offense then it all went to shite and we couldn't play defense from 2020-2024.

2025 I really thought we were going to be world beaters but didn't expect Nuss injury would impact him as much as it did. Dline and Oline were kind of shite last year too which was unfortunate.

Mmm, there were a few of us that saw Joe Montana from the start with Burrow.

I'm cautiously very optimistic for this year.

I will feel much better if we absolutely smoke Clemson. I mean, we beat Clemson last year but only looked okay doing it - especially offense.

If we go out and win 42-10, then LFG.

Can’t even compare those years to what we get now. Sport is way different, good records are openly bought now . I prefer the complete buy in and dedication to overachieve and a coach who could motivate a group to greater heights than expected. So I’ll just watch and take what’s been brought in .

What? LSU was ranked #6 preseason, and this board was insanely hyped; people here called it irrationally hyped going into 2019.

Do I think people are more excited going into this year? Probably so, but not all of that is because they expect the team is going to win it all; it is more about the feeling we finally have the right coach.

I'm just excited to see a competent offense and defense at the same time.

Especially after that fiesta bowl game the previous season where UCF fricked around with BDJ and found out quick

Obviously sounds like I'm saying this in hindsight, but I predicted us to go 11-1 in 2019 with a loss to Bama.

This year, I don't know what our record will be, but I'm excited for the season because we have so many high profile matchups in Death Valley. Probably the most excited I've been for a season in the 20s, with the exception of maybe 2023 which was squashed pretty quickly.

I'm pretty dam excited.

I'm pretty sure this team is going to lose at least one really dumb game that we absolutely should not lose and people are going to melt down.

I'm pretty sure this team will make lots of mistakes early in the season and look lost at times.

But I'm also pretty sure we are going to score a shite ton of points.

Idk, LSU was a top 5 preseason team that year. I was stoked.

I was excited for something new for sure.

By that point, I was so uneasy about Les and his "willingness to change" that I almost entered it with a bad feeling.

I was certain Mett would get LSU over the hump and we would get revenge on Bama. Frickin Yeldon.

I’ll never forget him calling audible at the line of scrimmage multiple times vs Miami. Was mind blowing to see a LSU QB finally do that

So we're just going to pretend like we weren't all extremely optimistic for 2023 and 2025?

Respectfully disagree that no one saw 2019 coming. The roster was a kerosene bomb wrapped in dynamite. What we didn't know was that Joe was a more-than-formidable flame.

I usually ignore preseason expectations; I don’t remember getting hyped since preseason 2011. I was so excited, we had tickets for the Oregon game-and was very concerned with the suspensions. I never saw 2019 coming at all. I think we may be the real deal this year, but I’m going to try to enjoy each game on its merits. Hasn’t worked out very well for the last few years…

As for this season, I'm as fired up as the next guy. It's just a different kind of excitement than I'm used to.

For most of my life as an LSU fan, every season felt like it revolved around one thing: beat Alabama. Everything else fell into place from there. Beat Bama, and you're talking SEC titles and national championships. It always felt like a one- or two-game season.

This year doesn't feel like that.

The expectations haven't changed. LSU should still expect to compete for championships. But the pressure doesn't feel concentrated on one Saturday anymore. It's spread across an entire season. There is a deeper SEC to navigate, and multiple programs capable of winning it all.

Maybe that's why my excitement feels different.

For the first time in a long time, I'm not just excited about where LSU could end up, I'm excited to watch how we get there. Lane Kiffin is one of the most entertaining coaches in college football, and I have no idea what this season is going to look like. It could be chaotic. It could be frustrating at times. It could exceed every expectation.

And honestly, that's what has me excited.

Instead of spending the entire offseason thinking about one game that has to go our way, I'm looking forward to the whole ride. There isn't one defining moment anymore. There are a dozen storylines, and Kiffin is at the center of all of them.

It's excitement for the journey with an optimism that doesn't feel like pressure. I can't remember feeling that way heading into an LSU season.

This season is all on if Leavitt stays healthy. That foot injury is bad to fully recover 100%. If it gets aggravated during the season LSU could be an 8-4 team easily. I do not like going into a season with a QB who had a bad injury, in the tough SEC for 13 games I see him hurting it again.
