I think this is the first year that I feel good about both sides of the ball. So I am pumped about Kiffin and feel really good about the next few years. I think Kiffin is the guy to handle the business aspect of college football today.

Agreed. By the end of 2018, he started to catch fire. Not sure I expected the greatest season ever but was expecting big things.

The Montana comparison really hit me with the way he audibled big runs for himself. Montana was the first I remember doing that with me seeing that he was doing it deliberately and not just getting lucky on the call. (I was 12 in '82.)

If we go out and Va Tech Clemson then I’ll expect the same end to the season

2025 I really thought we were going to be world beaters but didn't expect Nuss injury would impact him as much as it did. Dline and Oline were kind of shite last year too which was unfortunate.

I was hyped for last season as well. Thats keeping me from getting too hyped for this season even though I am more excited about the Coach. Still looking forward to the season but don't have the same expectations as I did last year. I really thought we were making the playoff last year.

Yes sir and I am super pumped. I don't know about winning a natty but if SOS would be correctly considered we should be in the playoffs.

Exactly

Kiffin understands and embraces the changes. He’s not stuck in his ways. He’s willing to adapt.

Kelly was a good coach in the BCS and 4 team CFP eras. To be fair I don’t think LSU’s administration fully had a grip on NIL and the portal until last season. Once they understood market value it changed things.

I'm very excited but I'm tempering my own expectations with the fact that this is a rebuilding year with a completely different staff and completely different team in an era where the players will simply just not give efford if they're not happy.

Lane Kiffin is a really good coach, but this is going to be year 1. Excitement level will be the highest that it's been in over a decade for sure, but I'm more of a believe it when I see it guy with this because I've been let down so much before.

I get irrationally hyped and start to feel like we're winning the natty right around this time every year, but that's just me

Honestly, what's the fun in being a fan if you don't do this?

Excited but cautiously optimistic just like I am for every season.

I think you have a short memory. 2019 was very hyped. Hell, last year’s team had national championship expectations.

Ranked #5 or #6 in SEC, not nationally, will do that.

You're a victim of the moment.

In 2023 LSU was No. 5 to start the and picked to finish 2nd at SEC media day. Many felt that could be a CFP team (and it should have been!). A lot of national medial liked LSU to be a CFP ahead of last year too.

This year is exciting because LSU has a new HC and there is a feeling optimism after the Kelly tenure crashed and burned. But the hype, i.e. LSU being a potential CFP team, is nothing new.

Top 5 most hyped teams since 2016:

1. 2016 massively under performed
2. 2023 massively under performed
3. 2026???
4. 2019 massively exceeded expectations
5. 2020 Massively under performed
HM: 2025 had the talent but deep down most knew BK stunk by then.

I have been disappointed so much after the 2019 season, I refused to go down that road again. I'll take the wait-and-see approach.
