Until the OL gets more elite classes to add to the team and coaching develops the talent, then we can see what kind of running game can develop to open up a passing attack with him or anyone else.
Until then, not happening. Be patient.

How has Walker looked in practice? He is becoming quite a legend on this board.

It's all we got man.

He makes good decisions and already has the best arm on the team, so….yea.

LSU is bad at developing their own QBs.

That's a redundant statement because LSU has had two morons occupy the HC position over the last 17 years with a merry-go round of OCs. Kelly is the closest thing LSU has had at organically developing a QB from ground up with an intelligent and skilled offensive line that should follow his blueprint at ND. I think in 2 years this will all look extremely different with Howard having clean pockets to step up into and bust up defenses, changing up the plays at the LOS based on pre-read etc.

So we agree that another year of JD5 would be disastrous?

Walker is the future and anyone who keeps up with LSU knows it.

I don’t know that. I hope that. But I haven’t seen anything that tells me it’s a certainty.

Neither have you. You have just confused your hope with reality.

If Walker is “developing” in this offense, I feel sorry for him. This system is not designed to make it easy for the QB to succeed.

Why is that?

Stupidity like this is why tRant's favorite QB is whoever the backup is. They come in, the next backup is the favorite and so on. Unrealistic expectations

Howard was a favorite for years before he hit campus.

He literally has coaches saying “the ball comes off different from his hands” meaning he has the best arm. He is also the smartest QB and possibly player on the team.

Can’t you appear in 4 games and keep the redshirt?

Play him in 4 games this year, and RS him

This. I'm not saying I buy all the hype being leveled in this thread about Howard, but if there is any truth to it, or if the coaches just want to develop him they can play him in enough games to preserve his red shirt.

For the person that said let Daniels go, I doubt they would do that with the QB cupboard so bare. Hell, if they do play Howard extensively in a few games (or even if they took a shot on Nuss), they could use Daniels as a Taysom Hill type tool. Put some runs and maybe even some routes for him and put him in the backfield with whoever plays at QB.

This thread is basically a therapy session. It's several fans that are so pissed it seems from Saturday that they are now passively aggressively projecting it onto Walker Howard, and the bright future he appears to have. I know when a thread is a lost cause, I'm Audi 5000.

Eh, we'll see. The problem is you guys anoint these recruits before they're put in there. No wonder why reality hits you like a ton of bricks.

I'm optimistic that WH will be the real deal, but I understand that outside of a handful of prospects, QB is difficult to project.

Also if he's the real deal I'm not one that has to see it this season. You guys want it because you're more interested in being entertained than him being ready for that role.

Quinn Ewers is a RS freshman who didn’t even play a senior year in HS. Kid is 19. Just saying, it’s possible for a RS freshman to light it up. I hope W Howard can be like that next year.

Yeah, and BK doesn't have a checkered history of making great QBs either so what's your point? Ian Book was probably his best QB and I'm not sure he would've been anything but above-average in the SEC all things considered.

He's got a long way to go to reach Brenner status. I'm convinced there's fans who would sign off on him getting a statue outside the stadium for his 1-2 career record as a starter.
