You just wait. Walker will lock up the QB spot next year. But, only until Collins gets on campus; that dude is the real star. But only until the real QB hero is on campus, when [HS Junior to be named later] takes over for good!

How about an offense that looks coached up?

We need a 5* qb for that to happen?

Coaches and qbs of all caliber seem to be able to put a focused team on the field.

Somehow some way LSU is never disciplined on offense.

2019 was an outlier.

Bravo. Perfectly stated. And the predicted win total will be no less than 10. Each year.

all of these guys were good in HS, let's hold off on the future until the future.
Im glad he is redshirting. And Nuss hasn't been giving a full opportunity so we really dont know if he can or can't lead us to where we hope this team will be.

How many more games does LSU have to lose before we inser
t Nuss or Howard and leave JD on the bench.
I'm ready now to give each a half of the game for the rest of the season, and let them show they can progress. They are not going to progress watching from the sidelines. I realize Howard has only 4 games left he can play in, but I dang sure would play him as much as possible and still protect the RS.

Some great QB can do it in their true freshmen year, then why Walker cannot do it after a redshirt year? He gets to practice all year, work out, play in 4 games, learn the play book, etc.
Tommy Hodson was the first team All-SEC QB as a Redshirt Freshman.

He went on to start for 4 years and killed it for the Tigers.

#2 QB Mickey Guidry always got a series or two in most games. Arnsparger said it gave Hodson a chance to settle down and look at what the defense was doing........

I do too, but if Nuss couldn’t beat out JD this year, he has no shot of beating out Walker next year, imo.

Based on the spring game, I’m still scratching my head on how JD beat Nuss for the start. The offense was in such a great rhythm with Nuss playing QB during the spring game. The timing between him and the receivers was on point. He looked athletic in scrambling situations. His mid to deep balls were on the money. IDK, maybe he wasn’t consistent through the summer into the fall? I tend to think BK sees maturity issues with Nuss, because I don’t think JD is a more talented QB than Nuss.

JD had two good throws in the spring, but other than that he was exactly what you see today.

Actually I’ll argue at this point that he should not be at LSU this year.

Sorry, JD isn’t a good SEC QB, but he is thd best alternative we have right now.

Or see how Saban plays Milroe and the guy lights it up.

He had three turnovers. He’s a good runner but that’s about it right now

How many other freshmen or RS freshman QBs has Saban played?

Hurts was the first in Alabama history to start as a freshman

How about an offense that can score, pass and run?

Y’all are making this kid to be the saving grace. Sort of reminds me of the Josh Booty years preceding him actually coming to LSU

Those some true freshmen QB I am referring to are Johnny Manziel (Won Heisman), Jameis Winston (Won Natty & Heisman), Michael Vick (awesome year), JT Barrett (great year).

Manziel - redshirted
Winston - redshirted
Vick - redshirted
Barrett - redshirted

One of the big differences between Howard and Daniels is the sense of urgency

Daniels tends to come out cool.

So Jamie calls the shots for LSU now? He's the one who got fed to the wolves early at LSU and you think LSU is going to do the same thing to his son next year? I'm fine by developing him on the field but you're going to have tons of growing pains if that's your decision at QB. I'd have to think if an opportunity in the portal presents itself you absolutely pursue it and let Howard sit #2 ready to takeover his RS Sophomore year. I think he'll be great for us but immediately starting him next year is going to have lots of highs and plenty of lows that I doubt the fanbase will be patient over.

I don’t think we will be starter shopping in the portal this season. We will need depth if Nuss leaves, but they aren’t going to jeopardize Collins’ commitment, so I don’t they will even look until after he signs unless there’s someone with interest they can’t pass on.

We will also be trying to sell someone on coming in and competing against Howard, a kid with program ties who’s already been here for a year. There’s no way Kelly makes any promises to hand the starting job to someone in the portal and risks Howard leaving because of it.
