It’s been mentioned that O was more comfortable with an attacking defense and a 4:3 scheme. Unfortunately, that defense is shite against most spread concepts. Even though we were undefeated, he always through the D under the bus, because we did give up points to teams O felt that we should be dominating.
In addition, I am sure it was a slap in the face to give O the interim tag when the only thing that kept miles and his inept defenses from losing every games was the Defense. We literally replaced a special ed coach with an actual Special Ed coach when we had a genius on the staff...that’s LSU under Alleva!

Aranda was trying to play chess and O was trying to bang the chess pieces...

He'd come back if O weren't in the picture, IMO

I don't doubt that Aranda has a higher IQ than Ed, but 10x? I'm really sick & tired of drooling idiot high-school dropouts referring to every coach, executive, boss, or politician they don't agree with as a "moron"...

I’m saying from an X’s and O’s perspective, Aranda knows way more than O. Aranda can actually scheme, make adjustments, design/call plays. O doesn’t do any of that shite.

There’s more to being a coach than just X’s and O’s but I’m sure Aranda had a hard time knowing more, and thinking he was way more qualified than Orgeron.

It seems to me that we have had more luck with *3 and walk-ons than with *5 lately. Just saying that who a player is in high school does not necessarily guarantee he will be that way in college. Players develop physically after they get to college and even mediocre players can be coached up.

He got along with Ed in the beginning. Dave became the guy tge players and other assistants went to bitch and complain. He is a very good listener and everyone respected him. Ed started getting paranoid that Dave was undermining him. The last half of the season in 19 Dave was ready to bolt. Ed made it untenable for him.

This comes from someone pretty close to the situation.

Don't really care if he hated LSU or O back then, but 5he AD at Baylor is very difficult to get along with and is a Ahole. Why do you think Mulkey left.?

Aranda is a West Coast guy. The fit with LSU and its culture, much less with O, was awkward at best.

He's doing a great job at Baylor and will make an impact there in short order, if not this year.

That totally explains why Aranda chose to stay after getting an offer to join Jimbo.

FYI, his girls went to Dunham and still come back for things

Random tangent, but I feel like he kept his personal life pretty private at LSU, I don’t think I was ever aware of him having a wife and kids even though I assumed he did. I just googled them and he has a great looking family for a guy that looks like a Hawaiian James Carville

Lots of people on here hated him and said his defense sucked.

Lol. Not surprising. He was afraid Aranda was undermining him just like he undermined Les Miles.

Yeah

I do think it's accurate to say he didn't like it at LSU when he went to Baylor but I think the reason he didn't like it at LSU is on his way out.

Well if the Baylor boards are correct Aranda won't come back to be the HC here. What's the big deal? The success of the program doesn't hinge on Aranda coming back. But if the Baylor boards are wrong Aranda MAY be a candidate for the job.

Not really. He's coached pretty much everywhere in the country outside of the east coast. Went to Cal Lutheran and got his masters at Texas Tech.

There was a lot of tension regarding the defensive side of the ball.

The 2019 Defense was a bit of a liability early in the schedule (see Texas & Vandy games) but after many of LSUs key defensive players came back from injury & the Defense was at full strength it actually became quite formidable (see Arky, A&M & of course the CFP vs Oklahoma & Clemson)

They know about as much about Aranda's thoughts as we do.

It's like the guy who said on here yesterday: "I'm from Pennsylvania and I know Franklin's not interested."

Everyone knows that if you live in the same state as someone, you know their every thought.

It’s fairly widely known that he didn’t care for Orgeron. The chair throwing, yelling and general brutish behavior got old.

Aranda might be a good coach and he might be someone worth considering. I just don’t think his defenses were all that great so If he’s happy in a Waco then good for him
