I've found that the best use of all media sources is simply to know what's being talked about at any given moment in time. It's almost always a relatively simple matter to find the source material being talked about in any given story. So, I do that.

Another thing I do is that the moment I see a story from a source that I know goes hard one way or the other, I immediately try to find coverage of the same story from the other perspective. Not because I'll assume that source is "better". But, it will then give the the lay of the rhetorical land on the subject.

Bottom line though is this. If you are able to find the source material but do not possess the individual skill to analyze it, then it really matters not whether you are team MSM or team Gateway. You don't really have any opinions of your own.
