re: Oh no we lost the quitter leader - BhamTigah
Raymond was an elite recruiter. Ron Cooper was a much better on field coach....
Napier better focus on his own state vs y’all dumbasses worried about Florida raiding LA.
A dumbass would be the guy that thinks a staff can’t recruit in more than one state. ...

That ULL coach is a bit like Saban...build a staff to try to raid Louisiana. Kelly better get that wall up in a hurry....

Bring back Ron Cooper. He was a better coach than Raymond, just wasn't as good at recruiting. ETA: I remember people freaking out when Cooper left also. In fact, I may have been one of them....

re: O'Dowd and Faulk both walk-ons 3rd and 4th string QBs if Nuss doesn't play - BhamTigah
Wonder if Howard will get a look since he's an EE?
I thought they could practice but not play. If they can play, I'm surprised Stingley didn't suit up. Then again, WTF do I know?...

We have depth issues, so even if we could get better players, I want the current guys to stick around....

re: What's Brennan's status/location? - BhamTigah
Don’t really understand exactly how the portalI works but I hope Brennan stays and plays in Texas bowl if possible. Would love to see him light it up in the bowl and finish out his eligibility as a Tiger next year.
I think playing in the bowl would keep him from getting a medical r...
Kelly said he would only hire the best of coaches at LSU.
Best for the situation doesn't necessarily mean biggest name and definitely doesn't mean fan favorite....

re: Based on The Lebby deal apparently being done, how do you rate OU’s recovery? - BhamTigah
I've always wondered what kind of HC Venables would be. I guess we'll find out. There's a huge potential for him to be like Muschamp and should have remained as DC. I like Lebby, but if Venables simply says "you run the offense and I'll run the defense", that'll be trouble....
I want a job like you bastards have so I can just follow this stuff all day.
Unfortunately I don't have one of those jobs but find myself following all day anyway. Getting way behind and I don't have a job where there's someone else to pick up my slack. :spank:...

re: Brian Kelly history of hiring OCs - BhamTigah
Why do people keep saying this? Brian Kelly is a defensive coach by trade. He was a DC his entire career before becoming a head coach. He's the architect for his offenses on the same level Nick Saban is.
He's a bit of an enigma. You're right, he was a DC. However, he ran his own ...

re: Brian Kelly history of hiring OCs - BhamTigah
Has he ever had $1m+ as a budget to hire an OC? I'm not worried. I think he can aim higher now, and likely will.
Not sure what the budget was, but I'm pretty sure Notre Dame could get an experienced OC if that had been Kelly's desire....

re: Brian Kelly history of hiring OCs - BhamTigah
Chuck Martin was on his staff at GVSU. He was also the successor and won two D-II national championships prior to rejoining Kelly when he took the ND job. Martin spent most of his time on defense, but he called plays as the HC at GVSU. As best as I can remember, Kelly was calling plays ...

re: How good of an OC was Mike Denbrock at Cincy - BhamTigah
People are focusing on BK removing him as OC in 2014, but that relationship goes much deeper. Denbrock got his start under Kelly at Grand Valley State as a GA. He later brought him back to GVS as the OC (and later moved him to DC ). Kelly later hired Denbrock at Notre Dame as a position coac...

Brian Kelly history of hiring OCs - BhamTigah
Some of you are bringing up big name OCs and will be disappointed if the OC is not a splash hire, but I don't understand why. Kelly's history is to be the architect of the offense and to bring in a young moldable OC to help him run it. Here's a rundown of his OC choices since his days at Central...

re: Defensive Coaches - BhamTigah
He mentions that this could be an issue if the current coaches get restless because they probably want some clarity so they can job search if necessary.
I would want some clarity at this point. Staffs are filling up. The time to get an assistant coaching job elsewhere is now....
