When my kids were young, I used get up at 4am, workout, shower, get dressed, make them their lunches, then make them breakfast, get them dressed, drive them to school, then, I’d go to work.

It was tough, but I had to do it.

Now, my kids are on their own and I can do whatever I want when I want. But, I really appreciate the time I have now to myself.

My kids grew up seeing my do this, and on weekends, I’d do yoga, or go for a quick run, or we’d go surfing together.

My son is a boxer, working on getting his pro card. My daughter goes to the gym most everyday. I may have screwed up their minds, but I did instill the importance of physical fitness.

It kind of seems like every option someone throws out, you have a reason why you can’t. So, you need to think about that. Only you have the answer. If I had to go back and do it over, I’d do the same thing. I would have woken up at 3am, if that’s what it took.

There are 24hrs in a day. There is 30min to 1hr some where in there to make it happen. More than likely it will not be when you want to do it. Adapt, over come and maintain discipline. Sounds like your best bet is to get something setup at home. I have transitioned to this myself to spend more time with the wife and the expectation of having my first child. This is what I have started with for use at home:

Bow Flex Dumbells

Bow Flex Kettle bell

Jump Rope

Physio Ball

Still get into the Gym 2x a week for heavy lifting. You either want it or you don't, and have to make the commitment to make it happen.

This is it, really. If someone is really committed to doing something, they’re going to prioritize that thing and make time for it. No one can force anyone to do anything.

No kids so that probably skews things, but I work somewhere between 55-65 hours per week. Generally, I can get to work around 8:30-9 everyday but I never know when I’m going to get home. Sometimes it’s 6, sometimes it’s midnight. I have to workout in the early mornings because the last thing anyone wants to do after a long day is hit the gym.

I did the 4 am workouts for years, just recently decided to start working out at lunch. I get to work a little early so no one says I'm taking more time. I work at a college, so I go get in an hour, change and back to work.

I see you're in education and coaching, so you should have some time to sneak away.

That's when I work out. Eat dinner, wait an hour or so, then hit the weights.

If you're looking for time you'll never find it. You have to make time for it. Treat it like a mandatory activity, it's easy to put off if you let yourself.

If you want it there is a way. If you want to make excuses then delete the post.

Me and the wife get up at 3AM and hit the gym until 4:30-4:45 5 days a week. Some weekends we hit a good workout if we are bored, but it isn't a priority. We also cook 3-4 nights a week.

I usually will hit the gym 1 or 2 afternoons with my son if his buddy is busy.

It's not that hard. You just have to do it and make it a habit. Like others have said, hit the weekends and a night a week. If you are smart with your routine that should be plenty for a while.

I tend to hit both weekend days and 1 day mid week, but would prefer to hone the early morning discipline needed.

So I have taken all this into consideration. I left my house today at the latest I could to see if I could workout from 5-6 and leave the house at 6:30 and it worked. I believe I will be returning to CrossFit and getting it in the mornings by waking up at 4:30.

Good stuff. Maybe late advice but with your time at a premium two important things...1) you have to pick out a proven and reasonable workout template/routine, and follow it to a T. If CrossFit is that for you, go for it. If not, this board has tons of other options. 2) Make it fit to your time frame, but focus and work...I got stronger and in better shape doing 45 mins/workout 3-4 times a week, than I was when doing 1.5 hour workouts. I did 5/3/1, but again, many options here.

Wake up at 4:30 four days a week. At first it was the hardest part of working out but now my body is used to it. I definitely am pretty tired by 9pm but it’s really the only time I can make work consistently.

Used to love getting up early and lifting. Now at 41 I'm so damn stiff in the morning that I have no interest in doing weight training at 330 in the morning. Now on days my wife is off, I lift in the afternoons when I get home from work. My kids have wrestling or football practice Monday through Thursday so on her off days she'll take them to practice so I can get a workout in

I woke up for years at 3:45/4 am to run/workout due to work schedule and having 3 kids. Afternoon workouts were hard due to kids extracurriculars and cooking supper. I was in bed for 9/9:30. Luckily I’m out of that routine and wake up at 6 now to workout bc the kids are older and I don’t have to be at work until 9.

Bro you’re a teacher

Y’all get off like 4 months for summer and they close the school if they think it might rain. Why not go on those days?

I started the get up at 4 AM thing and roll into the gym about 5 when my son was born 24 years ago. It was my only time slot available. Now waking up that early is ingrained into me even though I could now lift in the afternoons but I took up BJJ about 15 years ago and that now takes up my evenings. Even started boxing again. If you want to train, you will find a way,

Yep, this is it.

Wake up earlier. I'm a big advocate for 8-9 hours of sleep regardless of situation, but if the kid goes down at 7:30, hang with the wife for an hour, go to sleep, get up at 3:30-4:00 and start working out.

If something is important, you will find a way to make it happen. That's the way anything in life is, barring some sort of physical limitation (you're jailed, you lose your legs, etc.)

Im fortunate enough to have a flexible 100% remote job.. I usually go at lunch time, but since I do have to travel for work I frequently have to shuffle workout time around the rest of my day.
