re: Who here has been totally broke?
Posted by Hulkklogan on 4/27/25 at 6:27 pm
When I was 21 I lived with my 1st cousin and we both worked in the kitchen at DeAngelo's part-time. We were broke as shite. We look back and laugh now but it sucked, we lived on oatmeal with peanut butter, tortilla chips with a big can of nacho cheese, beans, and whatever one-off stuff his mom (my aunt) would bring us from time to time.
re: Why is live music so overrated?

Depends on the band, the music, and how I'm feeling that day imo.
But in general, there are some genres that, imo, don't sound *nearly* as good on record as they do live. Most Cajun and Creole music, for example.. the music so much about energy between the band and the crowd that the albums generally kinda suck. I recently went to a show at ACA in laffy and the musicianship displayed left me in awe, and I loved the music. The vocals were great. I started going to the albums of the bands involved.....yeesh. Sounds like howling.
I've experienced similar in the rock/metal scene.
Maybe it's got more to do with smaller studios that the smaller acts can afford just suck

Serious snow in BR. This is amazing. My kids love it and don't want to go in lol

I initially voted for Ted James and this time voted for Sid. I voted for Sid be because I know what I'm getting with Broome and I don't want more of it. Her mayorship has been surrounded by scandal and corruption, and BTR has only gotten worse in the last 8 years.

Valley Wings for various flavors. Spicy lemon pepper is a favorite of mine.
Best traditional buffalo wings: chimes, hands down. With their blue cheese dressing

I hate that Cypress Coast doesn't distribute or can but now it's starting to look like they're the smart ones lol
re: Romans on Government closed after 36 years.

Roman's pita and their homemade hot sauces really make it my favorite, this sucks. At least there's the hammond aire location, and it's pretty clean and seems well-run. The writing's been on the wall at the gov't location for some time.

I'm stilling hanging in there. The scale did not move for a few weeks despite staying consistent and even cutting out drinking altogether, so I decided it was time to up my dose to 5mg.

re: Tin Roof Closing Down
Posted by Hulkklogan on 9/25/24 at 7:17 am
Shame. Tin Roof beer was horrid early on and they turned it around and generally made decent-to-good beer, and the space was nice to bring the kids and let them run around outside.
I hope that Cypress Coast never really desiring to be bigger than a good neighborhood brewery keeps them open, but I'd love it if the old Fluer De Lis could be bought and turned into something fun as well.

Suffice to say, I let shite go. Had a bad week, then hurricane, then a short vacation trip.
Fun's over, have no plans for the next month, time to dig my heels in.
