I grind mine. I use the same preset setting every day and always use the lines on the side of the pot to get water to 8 cups.. easy enough....

We ran warm water all night (also an external tankless heater) and it's been fine. Pipes were wrapped by the installer so we're good there. Not sure what the proper way for you to handle it now. Personally I'd probably just let warm water run until it's fine, but I have no idea what I'm doing....

I already bulk up my dishes and eat voluminous foods all the time. Lean meats, fibrous and voluminous carbs, and a lot of vegetables. Sometimes I eat too much fiber and cause issues for myself....
