The elf really isn't a big deal. Our youngest likes to see what the elf is doing. Shes in bed for 8:30. It's not that difficult to put it sitting on a different shelf....

USAPL uses a stiff bar for meets. Most of the others around here will use a deadlift bar. Now, you can do more on a deadlift bar, so it could help build that number. Just depends on what you think you'll benefit from. Do you compete? If so what federation? I've been wanting a SSB. Once I can justify it, I'm getting one. Don't go into this thinking bench variations are the only thing you need to do. Your triceps need to be hit hard, some bicep work, some shoulder work and also back work.
