I miss this too! Haven’t found one like it although the Monte Cristo at MePas in Central is good.

Shakey's cheese pizza: I don't know if it was the cheese blend or the little golden brown bubbles, but that was the best cheese pizza that I've ever had

I miss speckled trout on menus. Only place I see it ever is Casamento's and it's very rare.

That's nothing but a function of our state's current Fisheries regulation framework.

As plentiful as that fish is, it's really inexcusable that there are so many hoops to jump through to make it commercially available. And I'm someone who enjoys recreationally fishing for it. There's a whole lot more room for give and take than the current regulations allow here.

Years ago there was a restaurant in Bucktown called Carmine's that served a magnificent seafood stuffed artichoke as an appetizer. That damn thing was a meal in itself, even when shared. They closed down that location and it opened again on Vets, only to now be closed down again.

I've never had an artichoke taste so damn good with the broiled seafood and rich dill sauce that covered the perfectly cooked artichoke.

Edited to add this: When they first hit the N.O. area, I loved to order the Fried Stuffed Potato Skins from Friday's as an appetizer.

Another favorite for a fast meal was hitting Luther's BBQ in Chalmette and getting the combination plate and an ice cold glass of tea.

I miss the marinade the old Sammys Grill put on thier grilled chicken. Their chicken club was one of my favorite sandwiches in town.

This will sound weird, but Superior marinates their chicken for like 2 days and they have a "chicken burger" (it's just a chicken sandwich) that you can add bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, pickle to... and they have outstanding grainy honey mustard and homemade ranch.

The sandwich is obscenely overpriced and a complete ripoff, but damn if it isn't delicious.

EDIT - Highland. I have no idea if Government does any of this.
