This reminds me of when Zaxby’s entered the market to “challenge” Canes. They have failed, and Bo will fail too. Popeyes reigns supreme around here and Bo will not change that.

Bojangles is in a different category I feel. They're not rivaling Popeyes at all because it's more of a breakfast place. The one opening in Albany isn't even going to have bone-in chicken on the menu.

Their location is only really competing with a McDonalds and Gas station food. It will be successful as long as service is solid and no other chicken chains pop up to poach customers from it.

as noted in the article that nobody else read

I can be in Albany in 10 minutes, I may ride over there this week if the biscuits are as good are y’all are saying. Krispy Krunchy biscuits are pretty piss poor around here

chicken fried steak biscuit is the real treasure.

Correct. Even better with egg imo. Hands down my favorite fast food breakfast item.

I went today to pick up a gift card for a coworker of mine from Albany who is jacked up for the opening and the new stop light to go with it. Yes they have cheerwine, I’ve never heard of it.

Been there a few times when I was in the Carolina's. Solid for fast food fried chicken.

Are they gonna have Cheerwine in their drink dispensers like they do in the Carolinas?

I would think so.
A location recently opened off of I-59 in Mississippi, near the Louisiana state line, and it has Cheerwine.

I've only been to Bojangles twice. The first time was a few years ago and I swear that recall eating fried on-the-bone chicken. Earlier this year, I ate at one in Mississippi and they did not have on-the-bone chicken. All they had was tenders.

Am I remembering incorrectly? Do they normally sell tenders and on-the-bone chicken?

I've never been to one that doesn't have regular fried chicken. Although that's never what I get. It wouldn't surprise me if some locations dialed it back if the only thing people are ordering are fingers, sandwiches, and biscuits.

If go to a SC Gamecocks game, you'll see a thousand of these in the tailgate lots-

The one in Duson is the same, no bone-in chicken, and the only other thing at the exit is a Wendys(in the same truckstop), gas station food, and sit down places like Rascals, Cajun Claws, and Naqs. It's actually near my office and I'd never been, they always have a solid line for breakfast in the mornings. So I went yesterday and grabbed a chicken sandwich for lunch, added BLT, and it was every bit as good, maybe better, than the Popeyes chicken sandwich. I regret going because now I want another one. I'll have to give the breakfast a try soon.

Take my advice, go to the gas station right next door, get the Creole Fried spicy bone in chicken and grab your biscuits from Bojangles.

The owner of the Albany location said that they have to be open a year before they can start serving bone-in chicken.
No idea why that is.

8am this morning (THU), no line, one car in the lot. Sausage/egg/cheese biscuit and coffee.

the coffee was excellent, 10/10
the biscuit was average, nothing remarkable about it but certainly good. Sausage was juicy and tasty, egg appeared to be freshly made. A serviceable biscuit, no reason for a special trip. 6/10

go with god

Had this yesterday for the first time. Chicken tenders were good. tasted like Popeyes, had good spice. Much better than Canes tenders.

Chicken sandwich was like Popeyes just the patty, bread, and sauce. I like the spicy deluxe from Chick-fil-A better.

Service at Albany location was on par with a McDonald’s….
