Just to clear up another misconception here, the Captain of a DDG (usually a Commander) probably hasn't touched the wheel (yes, there is still a literal wheel) in a decade...
Also, contrary to popular belief, an Engineer in the Navy is usually nowhere near the most book-smart person in the room and has nothing to do with a school like LSU, but could usually make MacGyver proud

Thanks for the responses, its kind of the direction i was going..
I know when i audit at work, the rule order matters and had been drying to reorder mine at home to make it work too..
I think my wall is that simply putting allow all does not do that and block with nothing in it, does the opposite of that..
living and learning and GPT has been failry helpful in the block column

This is all pretty new to me but i honestly expected it to be a little easier..
I'm able to block devices and traffic (even though it shows traffic, it comes across as blocked in the flow and the devices themselves will not load pages) What i can't seem to do, is ALLOW pages...
How can i set up one device on my wired network that essentially circumvents the cybersecurity checkboxed categories ( i did even select all and then take it out when applying)
I feel like i'm missing something easy

My daughter took my rates from 185 to 385
Called yesterday about my soon-to-be licensed son and it will likely go to around 685
He will be driving the 2011 Corollla that she drove for two years
Dont listen to anyone's advice here who hasn't done this in the last few years, its changing ever day

I’m considering adding a cheap cable connection as a backup WAN and upgrading main fiber plan to 2G because I work from home.
The pros of doing this myself was that I would have a stupid fast connection..
the cons, are that no matter how fast my home internet is, the VPN for work will always be what it is (and so on for every other upload connection)
For $60mo im fine with my 1Gb fiber

Looking at just getting a Unifi Cloud Gateway and rolling with that...Swapping my existing mesh system into AP mode and upgrading to an all u7 system eventually.
I already run pihole and honestly just want something for more visibility..Who goes where, blocking on a more "basic" level, etc..
Not worth building opensense, etc. for the price of the unifi boxes and i really dont see any other brands with the straightforwardness of the Ubiquiti system...
Open for suggestions, pulling the trigger probably Monday, looks like you pretty much get them straight from the source
