definitely this as well

and I guess I'll add craft beer too, as I don't really look at prices of beer, despite craft beer prices continually climbing

Surprised nobody had mentioned regular old "cracklins" at prices between $20 and up a lb. in some places.

Last time my wife got some at Chris' Meats on Pontchartrain Blvd. and Harrison it was something like $30 a lb.

Parmigiano-Reggiano. How I grew up eating that crap in the green can, I have no idea, but I will not buy anything that isn't real Parmigiano-Reggiano anymore.

especially paired with a microplane grater. I also used to always use the green can crap.

I was at an oyster farm this weekend and they had a hot dog covered in caviar on the menu. $65.

I passed. Though I have to admit I was curious.

7 downvotes for asking a simple question.

F&DB is a tough place to live. i bet if bobby flay showed up and posted a new recipe he'd get 30 downvotes.

I like those brown eggs at Costco. I don't know if it's in my head but I can taste the freedom those birds feel.

local, organic meat

I like the locally grown, organic.. and grass fed meat, as well. My grandfather had a farm and grew cattle, chicken and pork for our consumption and good quality meat tastes like my grandmother's cooking.. The stuff you buy in the grocery store, that's mass produced, doesn't.

I feel your pain. At one time I was a Boone's Farm aficionado. Thankfully I moved to cheaper vintages.

Here's one I doubt anyone else will mention.

I only use distilled water for my coffee maker. Makes a huge difference.

Bobby Flay does post here. Everyone knows him by a different name. His recipes are good, with many upvotes.

I guess "expensive" is all relative here. I'll spend more on cheese, but I don't consider the cheese I buy to be expensive. I definitely don't buy the most expensive cheese in the case though.

I pretty much only buy Ben & Jerry's ice cream. I think most people would consider that expensive at almost $5 a pint.

Craft beer. I rarely look at the price when I pick a six or four pack up. I do check the price on bombers as sometimes those are ridiculously priced. I'm not paying $30 for a bomber of beer.

That's probably about it, except for times at a nice restaurant. If that counts. I don't look at menu prices at nice restaurants and just order what I want.

Yes. You decide if you want to eat there and accept the fact it will be expensive. The question is, what is their reputation and can you afford it, not what will the items cost after you make the commitment to go there.
