re: Why are people up in arms about Real ID?

I've gone to the DMV twice and left after waiting for 2 hours. The second time I even scheduled an appointment but still left after 2 hours. DMV staff are awful.

re: How French was almost decimated and efforts to save it in Louisiana

I was raised and born in FL. In college, I worked on La oil rigs during summer (early 70's) to pay for tuition (also tugs & supply boats). All they spoke was French. I felt like I was in a foreign country. The Cajuns were very friendly and I liked them all.
The Cajuns made a huge impact during WW2 because they could speak with the French people and learn where food/wine/supplies could be found and communicate with the the French Revolutionaries, and learn where Germans were hiding. The Cajun soldiers gave us a huge advantage during WW2.
Read the Book: 'Frenchie' to appreciate the Cajun contributions to WW2.

We always had Kreuz Market food when we had our deer camp out there.
re: Louisiana, how does it feel to have the highest state taxes in the nation?

You have to include property tax to get a comparative estimate. I have family in FL and TX and they pay 15 to 20 times what I pay in property taxes.

re: Who has bought a truck/vehicle in TX while living in LA

Bought my 2006 and 2017 trucks from Katy, TX. Louisiana dealers can't compete. It's easy to do.

While in undergraduate school in FLA, I worked summers off shore from Louisiana as a roughneck on oil rigs for 1-3 weeks on, 1week off in the early 70's. There was not a word spoken in English (sometimes broken English). It felt like I was in a foreign country. The booray games they played were very emotional and loud.
Reading a book now ('Frenchie') detailing how the Cajuns in WWII were bilingual and greatly helped our troops in France communicate with the locals. The Cajuns were given special treatment by our armed services Brass.

Half way between Ponchatoula and Springfield and just south of Hwy 22:
The snow is gone after 7" fell. 29 deg F now/ 10 F tonight.
Snow on roof seems to be acting as insulation based on Temp sensors in
the attic.
