Costco wine

Everybody talks about it being good
But the inexpensive line at Costco and the Kirkland wine
Is nothing different than eight dollar a bottle wine you can get at CVS or Walgreens
It’s crap
They have some good brands there, but this is the first time. I thought I’d try to see what people were talking about. But I think it’s just a bunch of drunk housewives perpetuating a myth who measure wine by quantity and not quality.

Most stuff at Costco that everyone talks about is not a big deal. There’s some decent stuff but not anything I’m running around telling people about.

I like the $4 wine from Aldi

The Alexander Valley Cab is good and one of the Pinots too. I just can’t remember if it’s the Willamette or Russian River one that I had last time.
I buy them when there are going to be a bunch of folks over at the camp.
The Kirkland “France” vodka is pretty good… considering you spend $21 on 1.75 litres.

My FIL was in the wine business. He would hear rumblings about what brand they bottled, buy one, and if he liked it he would buy a bit more.
I think the biggest thing is that you could get a really good wine that is usually a lot more for a cheap price due to a vineyards over abundance one year.

There are bad ones and there are occasionally some very good ones for the price.
Some pretty good wineries have surplus juice and they just bottle it under Kirkland.

To each his own but I'm not shopping for wine at CVS or Walgreens. There are some decent Kirkland wines. And when it come to taste, who can tell you that you wrong for liking a cheap wine?

I’m a Costco apostle, but the wine and other alcohol beverages are not the reason why, with a few exceptions.
Alcohol is also one of those categories where I want more variety and uniqueness.

I tried all of them back when it was $3 Chuck. The reds all tasted pretty much the same. I haven't had any in several years. I don't know what it's like now.
My original post was (mostly) a facetious comment. I thought it was Ok, but I'm no wine connoisseur.
I believe at one time it was $2, but I think it was up to $3 the last time I bought any.

The $8 Kirkland Chianti Classico is good in my opinion.
