Had great steaks at many restaurants. There is a 14 table restaurant in Idaho Falls, Idaho named DeRails. They serve A5 Wagyu. Everything on the menu is amazing.

Second Parrilla 1880. The next time you go give Piegari a try for Italian. You won’t be disappointed!

Does in Greenville

Legit, but better do it in the daytime.

Does in Monroe is right there.

However, the best steak is at Como Steak House in Como, MS.

Filete con hongos at America's in Houston stands out for me. I've had lots of good and more bad steaks at restaurants though.

I get swayed by experiences. The better the wine, company and atmosphere the better I think the food is THat said, I had an amazing ribeye at Dickie Brennans. It gets hate but that was a great steak

I've traveled all around the country for work and the best I've had was at a restaurant called Foley's in Sioux Falls, SD. I haven't been since 2012 or so but it was perfection. They also had the best Beef Wellington I've had.

Florentino steak in Tuscany

Yeah. Those are terrific. I have had it a couple of times but not that often because it is gigantic slab of rare beef and is designed to be shared by at least two people. My wife won’t eat rare meat and if you ask for it to be cooked more they look at you like you are crazy.

They come from a special breed of cattle. I wonder why we cannot raise that kind here. Same with the French Bresse chickens.

Probably ye old steakhouse outside of Sevierville. My experience was 3 amazing steaks and 1 just ok.
Chop house in the area is also very solid, but I usually get the lamb.
Can't remember the name of the high end Vegas restaurants we went to, but that was probably #2, just very expensive.

Like you, I don't see the point in ordering a steak at a restaurant any more since I can cook them just the way I like them at home. Also I know I'll most likely be disappointed while paying out the arse for something I don't like.

I am now in that camp - haven't had a really good steak in over a decade.

I love steaks and try filets everywhere I go for the first time.

My favorites so far are:

Bob's Chop House in Frisco, Texas. It's not there, anymore, but there's one in mid-Dallas.

Pappas Brothers Steakhouse in Dallas, Texas. Unexpectedly delicious. Went there two nights in a row after trying it the first night.

Ruth's Chris in Baton Rouge. I've never had a bad filet there and have been there far more times than I've been to the ones I've listed, above.

There are very good steaks at a lot of other places, too, but these are my nominees. I look forward to having a chance to eat at many of the places I've read about in this thread.
