Why did Emeril Lagasse move from New Orleans to Florida?

I know he still has a restaurant presence in New Orleans but he no longer lives there. Anybody know why?

Think he has always maintained a multiple residence situation (at least say last 20 years) at one point it was New Orleans and New York.
However two things if I had to guess that it is now NOLA/FL 1) no state income tax in Florida 2) he spends a lot of time fishing.

He has a restaurant outside of Sandestin, and has a house in Sandestin.

I am going to guess this. I know some high net worth older folks who keep their beach condo as their primary residence and have their drivers licenses, car tags, voter reg, etc in FL. They lose their homestead exemption on their million plus house in LA but save tens of thousands a year in LA income taxes on their retirement dollars.

Fall River, MA. Which is incredible because it’s really not a nice place, but they do have a very high Portuguese population.

Martha Stewart bought the rights to most everything except his restaurants. He wasnt doing too good in the restaurant game. The state of Florida subsidized a show and gave him money. And I believe he consults for a lot of potential new chains and Florida is birthplace/testing grounds for the vast majority of them backed by big corps.

CSB last summer when we were at seaside my FiL and his wife went to Emerils in PCB for lunch and Emeril was cooking. They even had a pic taken with him.
