Getting your panties in a wad because someone's vehicle is in their own driveway, their trash can is in the wrong place, etc is pathetic
Hold up, I'm not defending ALL HOA's. Some are absurd. Mine is just really relaxed and does a good job with their small list of responsibilities.
We have good neighbors though, that helps.

Wait, so just because someone lives in a neighborhood where there is an HOA that means they have a small dick and an inferiority complex?
My word, man.
You missed my point entirely. I was referencing the people who run to the HOA, or the HOA presidents who focus on the petty bullshite.
HOAs can serve a valuable purpose within reason, but when they are abused it's just fricking stupid.

No, I'm equating a valuable antique truck with damaged original paint with Abercrombie and Fitch jeans.
Paint is a strange delineation. Why is the paint damage acceptable but interior damage or other exterior damage (like a busted grill or windshield, for example) not?

Sorry...but I wouldn't want to look at that truck either. I agree with the HOA.

What if I'd rather use my garage for another purpose? I don't think I've ever parked in my garage, too many tools/workbenches.

My thing is, if his argument is that it's only natural paint damage and not body damage (as the HOA has written, to be fair) wouldn't this car be allowed in the driveway as well?
Sure, his truck is an antique and this one isn't. But that's not what he's asking for. The HOA is in the wrong for not being more clear, but I think his argument is flawed too.

This is funny and I don’t feel sorry for him one bit. He chose to buy a house in a place like this. He actually signed up for it.
but the rules say nothing about the paint job, only body damage. From the picture it doesn't appear there is any body damage.

The problem is not HOAs in general, but people not actually reading the rules of their HOAs. I'm about to move into a house covered by one, so the first thing I did was to make sure they didn't have any ridiculous rules that were over the top or impossible to comply with.
Oh, and the HOA will likely lose this lawsuit.

HOAs are a consequence of the fact the prob a quarter of people are trashy and if not policed will ruin the neighborhood for everybody

I don't have a problem with that car at all.
I intend to drive my car until the wheels fall off, so I expect my car's exterior to eventually look like that.
This HOA is just being snobby.

You dont have a workshop for that?
Garages are for cars.

My husband tells me that patina has been a big thing in cars and trucks for the past decade. Some of the prices on unrestored but running well cars are Barrett Jackson let me know that some men have a lot of money to spend on cars with patina.

There's no body damage on that truck. I love that it's a 3/4 ton. I'd drive it.

Don't worry. Real men don't live in HOA's and real men have garages full of tools. Driveways are for parking.
