CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (KMOV.com) - Andy Lipka loves classic cars. One of his latest obsessions is his 1965 Ford F250 pickup truck.

It still runs well and in Lipka’s opinion, it’s pretty close to perfect.

As he explained, “It reminds me of the truck I grew up in with my dad.”

Not only does Lipka love the way it drives, he likes the paint job. As he describes, “It's not damaged, it's the way the finish has evolved over the years.”

His homeowners association (HOA) hates it. So much so, they are suing him. The bylaws of the HOA in his Chesterfield neighborhood state vehicles with moderately severe body damage can't be parked in the driveway. But Lipka says his classic truck does not have body damage.

Lipka told News 4, “Its original Ford paint from 1965, it’s sought after now.”

Body damage and faded peeling paint aren’t even remotely the same thing. HOA loses this one.

Seems trashy. Why not have it restored?

My last house had a shite HOA. They helped friends and could not care less about people they didn't hangout with. I'll never live in a HOA again. Frauds.

I support the HOA

I actively enforce the car rules in my HOA.

Cars always parked in driveway is trashy. If it wont fit in your garage then get rid of it or store it elsewhere

This is funny and I don’t feel sorry for him one bit. He chose to buy a house in a place like this. He actually signed up for it.

To his defense, sometimes "restoring" old things hurts or ruins their value.

People cherish the original paint or patina on antiques.

I love our HOA. Its cheap and they maintain landscaping, trash pickup rules, and enforce noise ordinances, which rarely ever happens. That's about all they do.

I understand WHY the bylaws of that HOA were written as such, although I think they are way wrong and off base on this case, but can't the dude just put a cover over it?

Yeah exactly. Or park it in the garage and leave your commuter in the driveway. This is an issue because the guy's a dick and wants to measure his dick against the collective dicks of the HOA.

"Moderately severe body damage" is a pretty vague restriction. The truck in the photo has no "body" damage - it has areas of weak paint.

Patina.

ETA:

ICON Derelict (like Mugatu) takes old bodies and leaves them as is, literally everything else is custom and/or brand new.

This truck is an outlier as it is SUPER expensive.

maybe people who move into neighborhoods with HOA's should read them before they buy
