It’s a pretty cool truck and the HOA needs to STFU and embrace it

There's no body damage on that truck. I love that it's a 3/4 ton. I'd drive it.
I would too, I like it. But if you can't have it in the driveway then don't have it in the driveway. I'm also guessing that cars have to be parked in the garage according the his HOA and the article isn't mentioning that.

What if it doesn’t fit in his garage?

Real men don't live in HOA's and real men have garages full of tools. Driveways are for parking.

There is a reason I got property outside of the city and not in a subdivision. frick HOA. It's my property, I will do as I choose on it.

Sell the truck. Old vehicles suck anyway. The cab noise is ridiculous and they always break.

Put it in storage. If you let one person break the HOA rules then you set a precedent. This is typical I don't like the rules so I don't think they should apply to me mentally going on lately.

Oh, we can't let people just start having cars with imperfections running around the neighborhood.

I’m sure you love your truck, unfortunately the neighbors do not enjoy seeing it every fricking day, park dat shite in da garage or cover it you arse...

Why is the paint damage acceptable but interior damage or other exterior damage (like a busted grill or windshield, for example) not?
I wouldn't consider interior wear and tear to be body damage either.
Body damage is damage to the body of the car. Dents, broken windows/shields, busted taillights/grills, etc.
Of course this is all pending the specific wording of the HOA.

The article doesn’t specify if he daily drives this truck, but let’s say he did. I don’t disagree with your precedent argument BTW, just discussing.
My truck doesn’t fit in my garage with the hitch in and I’m too lazy to remove and reinstall every time it’s needed. What is legitimately to do if this is his primary, daily truck, and it doesn’t fit in his garage.
It’s not like it’s on blocks with the front end removed, it’s just ugly according to the HOA.

He should paint it pink with a huge dick on the hood.

I see three obvious dents. Hood, lower front fender, and door. Looks like 6 spots where bondo has been applied. I wouldn't call that front fender shitty bondo job patina
I hope the guy wins but it may be a hard sell on the body damage vs patina. I would be coming after any HOA board member if they get a door ding.

And that would be the counter argument. The article (or what I read of it) implies that issue is with the paint specifically.

That's his problem, not his neighbors. If this was his situation before an HOA existed, then he'd have a right to complain. But he signed up for this.
I wouldn't have a problem with it if I lived there, and I think HOAs get out of hand. But he moved there because he wanted neighbors that fit a certain criteria, as did his neighbors.

I would drive that in a heartbeat. Dad had the F-100 from the same year.
