Over the last month, Starr said she had been facing 'challenging times' since undergoing Lasik eye surgery.  She had the surgery in October and took four weeks off then returned to work for one day in November but it was too much of a struggle for her and she was back at home the next day.  In a video uploaded to her Facebook page on November 13, the day she went back to work, she was downcast as she asked viewers for their prayers and well wishes.

LASIK is not worth the risk. Not with all these quacks doing them now

Sad. I have a coworker whose wife is now blind in one eye due to a botched Lasik procedure. Used to think I'd get it done, but I'll pass.

Wow. Matt Moscona says there’s no such thing as a botched LASIK procedure

It's not hard to go to a reputable doc, and it's not even expensive anymore. If you bargain shop the person cutting your eyes with a laser, well...

That is sad to read.

Can someone get me up to speed? Is there some correlation now between LASIK surgery and depression/suicide? How does that work? Pain?

RIP

let's keep in mind that it's not the LASIK procedure that killed her

The article said another person recently killed the selves due to years of “intolerable” pain from the procedure.

She was married with two small kids, obviously there were other issues besides a slow recovery from LASIK surgery.

Glasses are super “in” right now anyway. Hell people with 20/20 are wearing frames just for the look. No need to have someone shoot a laser through your eye.

You can never put yourself in someone elses shoes but I would imagine there was some previous depression or other issues on top of the LASIK issues

Screw up procedure + permanent sudden vision loss + poor coping mechanisms

I've never understood the appeal of LASIK if you're able to get by fine with glasses or contacts.

This is a sad story, but her getting LASIK has nothing to do with her killing herself right?

Reading the article, it's easy to assume she had LASIK and 4 weeks later she killed herself as if it was the result of the LASIK.
