If your a meteorologist and you have to be able to see the screen to show viewers the weather, and you can’t do that anymore, you can’t do your job.

After years of working towards a dream job only to have it pulled away from you, it’s hard.

I had PRK 9 years ago now and it was a terrible decision. I had horrible recurrent corneal erosion, would wake up a few nights a week with the most severe pain I have ever experienced. It still happens from time to time and my eyes are super sensitive to touch, but I haven't had a bad erosion in more than a year or 2.

Glad you said that. I had PRK in one eye and LASIK in the other. The PRK eye seems to have the same problem that you describe. LASIK eye is fine.

This seems to be a troubling trend when it comes to all these cosmetic procedures. I don't know enough about it all to say what's going on, but I know I wouldn't go anywhere in a strip mall to have any type of procedure done (not saying she went to a place like that, but you do see these places at strip malls).

I'd be curious to see if botched LASIK is tending up, but even if the risk is 0.5%, IMO it's not worth it. It is a slight inconvenience to put in contacts and/or wear glasses....

Majority of meteorologists don't ever appear on camera.

It's likely nowhere near that high.

I've never understood the appeal of LASIK if you're able to get by fine with glasses or contacts.

Because it is so much nicer to just open your eyes and be able to see.

Go to a reputable eye surgeon, not a strip mall.

Mine was done by Williamson Clinic in BR. I was back at work in two days with 15/20 vision ever since.

Sad that she decides to off herself right before Christmas and she has two small children. Pretty selfish IMO.

People act like surgery is always perfect. Even with a low risk surgery that’s let’s say 0.001% chance of being bad, a quick look shows 600,000 people had LASIK in 2017. That means 6 people had issues.

I’d still say the other 599,994 would make it worth it.

I had PRK done in 2009. Pain was severe post-op day #2 but was at work by post- op day #4. Sucked to do drops for 3 months. But today no issues / complications and vision is 20/20

She was married with two small kids, obviously there were other issues besides a slow recovery from LASIK surgery.

Seems like this.

I'm sure this isn't it, but the article just makes it seem like it was taking longer to recover than normal.

Just seems odd. If I got Lasik and was having major pain issues, I'm assuming I'd be visiting all kinds of doctors to try and figure shite out. Not saying she didn't do that, but the article doesn't really make mention of that.

Contacts terrify me. I wear glasses. I don't always feel cute in them, but I just can't commit to contacts nor would I undergo the LASIK procedure.
