People are too vain to wear glasses and too lazy for contacts. Now blind for life.

20 years. I'd be interested to see what kind of follow up stuff that guy tried if any to fix his issues.

I've never understood the appeal of LASIK if you're able to get by fine with glasses or contacts.

Do you wear glasses or contacts? Not dealing with that is awesome.

and you don't see why anyone would want to fix their eye sight with a simple procedure?

My eyes keep changing for the worse so I don't know if I'll ever be able to get Lasik

Contacts are unsanitary. You can easily cause perme ant damage with them too. And they’re a cost that over time, some people just don’t want to pay.

I was listening to an interview with the British head of eye health that exposing contacts to water is extremely dangerous. He said if you swim with them or shower with them, they should be thrown out. Said there’s an amoeba they’re seeing a lot more now that infects people’s eyes through contacts. He said he’s been trying to get that warning put on contact lenses for years and they won’t listen to him.

I had PRK 9 years ago now and it was a terrible decision. I had horrible recurrent corneal erosion, would wake up a few nights a week with the most severe pain I have ever experienced. It still happens from time to time and my eyes are super sensitive to touch, but I haven't had a bad erosion in more than a year or 2.

Basically, my eyes never healed from the surgery and when they dry out (wind, fans, etc), the eyelid sticks to the eyeball and rips the surface off. It sucks, I can't sleep with a ceiling fan anymore.

Vision is perfect though, so that's a plus. I never got suicidal, but if you told me I would have that pain on a daily basis moving forward, it would be a tough pill to swallow.

This is a sad story, but her getting LASIK has nothing to do with her killing herself right?

Says she was having complications after LASIK... also mentions a guy who killed himself after years of pain from LASIK. Maybe she was in severe pain or maybe she was depressed thinking that she would lose her career bc she was unable to return to work.

LASIK is not worth the risk. Not with all these quacks doing them now

it's not hard, I googled it, got quite the side hustle going on, run it out of a mini-warehouse storage unit

let's keep in mind that it's not the LASIK procedure that killed her

Yeah, I kept rereading the story to see if I missed something about the LASIK actually being the cause of death.

This selfish bitch killed herself 13 days before Christmas leaving a partner and two young children. Not only did she rob her family of a mother, but stole the subsequent "Christmas excitement" for her kids.

It wasn't LASIK. this one had problems that stemmed way beyond some surgical mishap.

Yup contacts are more dangerous than LASIK when considering minor or major risks and frequency of complications of both.

Seems very unlikely

It being a final disappointing/bad event in the life of someone struggling with emotional/mental ailments seems plausible

This is a sad story for sure

I got LASIK done probably 5 years or so ago down in Miami. There were all these "deals" for like $499 an eye and stuff.

I went to Baxter eye center, which is the #1 eye hospital in the USA. As others have said, I wasn't taking chances with my eyes
