Have never eaten at Lagniappe. Have eaten at Parrains once and it was amazing.

Make a deal: I'll trade you (BR) 100 Mexican and 50 Asian restaurants from Katy, TX for either Lagniappe or Parrains. Are we dealing?

I'll throw in another dozen taqueria food trucks live from Mason Rd.

Full disclosure…I’ve never had parrain’s.
I’ve eaten at LL many times. I’m no restaurant connoisseur. I also recognize that BR is not a fine dining mecca.
I think LaLagiappe is the best restaurant in the city as far as consistency of their product.
They aren’t doing anything new or inventive. What they do, they do well, and they do that very well.
Never had a bad meal at LL.

I respect the hell out of this. They stay in their lane and understand what the customer base wants. They aren't trying to be something fancy in BR because let's face it, "fancy" in BR just doesn't work.

Haven’t lived in BR since school but have been to both on trips back. These were very high on my short list for a weekend visit (the dreaded Tenn game a couple years ago).

There’s a little overlap on their menus. LL delivers a higher quality, more sophisticated product. Parrains is more of a TGI Fridays experience but still very good food.

To take it a step further, Chimes which is a sister restaurant of Parrains with a fair amount of menu overlap, fills a sports bar niche. Was a bit repetitive to hit Chimes and Parrains in the same weekend but there’s plenty of good food on both menus.

One slight change I noticed with new ownership at LL, is that they were often emailing their customer base with their weekly featured items. The previous ownership did this, and would send out weekly emails, often changing out appetizers, desserts, and entrees.

The new ownership looks like they decided on a monthly email with their featured items.

I like both, and I don’t consider them the same.

My only gripe with Parrains is that they stopped serving fried oysters a few years back, which is my favorite fried seafood item. They also stopped serving the turtle soup, which was my alternate order when I didn’t get fried oysters.

I would need to hear how you define "fancy", but I'm inclined to disagree pretty vehemently.

And please, please don't respond with "Supper Club"

For a bigger dinner I go with LL.
They have a lot of very good entrees to pick from.

Parrain’s though has some good entrees as well as sandwiches, char grilled oysters and a very good variety of casual fare. They do lunch and brunch while LL is strictly dinner.

EBR is lucky to have both restaurants.

I need to try LA Lagniappe.

I’ve enjoyed the fried seafood platter at Parrains very much.

Is this a trick question? LL by miles. I used to like Parrain's, but since I rarely eat fried food, what's the point.

I used to really like Parrains but it’s got a very chimes east vibe about it in recent years.

I mean, it's a decent place for what it is.

I'm not sure how one can call such a place "amazing" though.
