Former five-star LSU tight end Arik Gilbert has joined the Savannah State football program, according to reports.

Gilbert caught 35 passes for 368 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman at LSU in 2020 but left Baton Rouge after one year.

He went on to transfer to Georgia, but did not play in 2021 due to personal reasons. He caught two passes for 16 yards and one touchdown for the Bulldogs in 2022.

Following the 2022 season, Gilbert transferred to Nebraska, but never played in a game after being arrested for breaking into a vape store in Lincoln.
