I know Richard from High School and ran into him a few times while he was at LSU. He is his own person and not overly influenced by others. He won't be bought off by anyone but he can come across as arrogant.
Proposing the elimination of state income tax is his key policy item, which is definitely NOT a democrat position. Richard is a moderate Republican. He understands that state income tax applies to BOTH personal income AND business income and changing that is necessary for Louisiana to be competitive in retaining/attracting high-quality workers and businesses.
I do believe he truly wants Louisiana to succeed and he is not afraid to take bold action to make it happen. Richard is incredibly smart and has a strong work-ethic.

The fact that he is not sucking off Trump's knob is probably a good thing. Louisiana has Louisiana issues not federal issues.

I can’t fathom that interpretation. Having experience isn’t the only requirement but it certainly is an important one.
Any major corporations hiring a CEO with just a couple of years experience?

If he wants to get rid of the state income tax he's got my vote. It's probably a pipe dream but the fact that any allegedly conservative states have their own income tax is a travesty.

He worked for the State Department, which means he is probably a part of the deep state.

He was going up against some staunch Democrats, too. But, he handled it very well. I'll keep an eye on him.
Looks like a good field of candidates might be developing all of a sudden. Glad to see it.

will be interested in all the proposals on getting rid of state income tax. Always interest me how to eliminate it.

I don’t live in Louisiana, but if I did he would have my vote. How he handled Judge Carter’s questions about burden was great. I wish he would have talked more about the plaintiff ALWAYS has the burden in a civil case. The fact Louisiana transfers that burden to the defendant is insane. In every civil case in every jurisdiction in the country the plaintiff has the burden. Except in Louisiana in personal injury cases? Am I understanding this correctly?

It was crazy. I don’t have Facebook but I was allowed to watch. Judge Carter was lamenting the Louisiana citizen not having to prove their case.

Donald Trump was a good President, especially sandwiched between Barack Obama and Joe Biden. But someone not saying he is their role model isn’t some metric point of conservatism.

It’s Louisiana. That applies to every candidate at the highest level. They are ALL flawed at some level.
TBH, I didn’t even think that he was running.
My guess is that (despite getting my vote), that he will lose and then throw his support to whomever the Republican candidate is (Landry?).
Still, he espouses more of what I’m looking for than the other candidates.
He wants to right the ship, put it in dry dock, and refit it for a different manner of doing things.
The others seem to want to be captain.
Yes, they have experience, but when the ship (Louisiana) is the Titanic...
