How so?

Is he? His website says that he would use the state police in the short run, economic opportunity and education in the long run. Seems like his legislative agenda included incentives to prisons to train short-term prisoners with marketable skills so they have opportunity after release. Doesn’t seem soft, seems practical, and different from what the current status quo is.

What I’ve heard him say about his tax plan is that tax collections would stay local, rather than being an allowance from the state. Should give more leeway to municipalities as to how to deal with these issues.

Red River Radio (Shreveport): LISTEN checking in.

North of the LA Mason-Dixon Line (Alexandria) will play an important part in the race. Nelson's wife is from Shreveport. Nelson has quipped, "I married Shreveport".

This is interesting.

On another note, I saw that the lawsuit filed by Landry on behalf of Louisiana against the Biden regime was used to expedite requests via FOIA. Kudos to him.

I really like Nelson (despite his youth), but it is hard not to love the fight that Landry shows.

Agreed… sort of. Landry has learned the art of pushing time-tested hot buttons that have resonated with voters for generations. Nelson, on the other hand, is bringing in a fresh set of buttons.

While this is true, it doesn’t discount what he did. Remember, only two state AG’d had the balls to do so, and he was one. Additionally, the “button” isn’t in the traditional vein. The man deserves credit imho.

I agree, which is why I think so highly of him.

Since the last election showed the divide of N and S Louisiana, this could have more impact than expected.

The horsepower that New Orleans once had has been diluted courtesy "The Great Katrina Exodus". Additionally, Nelson lives in the 4th largest (and 2nd fastest-growing) parish in the state.

1. East Baton Rouge Parish: 455,447
2. Jefferson Parish: 439,402
3. Orleans Parish: 383,974
4. St. Tammany Parish: 262,799

As does Hewitt and Schroeder.

Unless two drop out, and coalesce around one candidate, then where they are from is actually an issue.

If Landry and Nelson are the top two choices, it’s a can’t lose situation IMO.

I agree. However...

As noted in another thread, I would vote for any of the declared candidates.

Landry has built up a lot of positive political capital the last couple of years with his fights against mandates and big tech collusion with the federal government. Along with Landry’s $6 million campaign bank account that’s going to be difficult for Nelson to overcome.

But I see a chance for Nelson to make up ground and it’s on the debate stage. Nelson is much more articulate and quick witted than Landry.

Until La goes to “closed primaries”, this state will continue to languish in all important facets. La has to many “D’s” who run as “R” as they know they wouldn’t win running as Democrats! Take for example the 22 “R’s” who crossed the aisle and joined the democrats to elect SOTH! And just in the past few days a Democrat was chosen as the leader of the PSC because a Rino voted for him. 3 Republicans on PSC, and 2 democrats! But a true believer on the “green energy” crap is now the head man of PSC! All because of the rino Green! I can’t recall his first name! He is also a strong proponent of the green energy sham/scam. I am through with the Republican Party until La goes with closed primaries! Closed primaries should be a main topic of all who want to be the next governor.

While I don’t disagree, I wouldn’t classify any of the four as RINOs based on what I know about them. Feel free to enlighten me though.

As I said in my previous message, I can’t recall Mr Green, an elected member of the PSC first name. I consider a rino to be exactly what the name implies. Republican in name only! I am not tryin to be argumentative, but please explain to me why a registered Republican would cross over & support a democrat to be chairman of the PSC. Except maybe both of them workin together can foist more of the “green energy” scam/sham on La residents! That’s just my simple opinion.

Mr Green. I believe he is a dr. He is a registered Republican who voted to place a democrat as chairman of the PSC, Foster Campbell. Both Mr Green & Mr Campbell are strong proponents of the green energy scam! Wonder how much money each will make under the table during their term
on the PSC from private entities pushing the scam?

Thank you.

I was confused as I thought that you may have been referencing either Nelson or a Hewitt.
