It is. We've won multiple games with ace specials teams over the past 3 seasons.

Ed Orgeron tells
@OTB_ESPN
he hopes his main coaching hires are done by the weekend.

He confirms he's spoken with former PGC Joe Brady for the search.

"Joe, who can run your offense? And he recommended me two guys, and they're here with me today." #LSU

Orgeron said Derek Ponamsky, LSU's special assistant to Orgeron, has been in contact with Brady during the search, hoping to find candidates who can replicate the schemes they ran when the Tigers won the program's fourth national championship.

"Joe, who can run your offense?" Orgeron said Ponamsky asked Brady. "And he recommended me two guys, and they're here with me today."

The 37-year-old Peetz has spent seven seasons as an assistant in the NFL, four in the NCAA, most of which were spent as a quarterbacks coach. Peetz also began his career in the NFL as a scout for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2008, under then-head coach Jack Del Rio.

Peetz has also spent time successfully building game plans behind the scenes at the college level, twice as an offensive analyst at Alabama in 2013 and 2018.

Mangas spent one season as an offensive analyst with LSU in 2019, joining the Tigers staff after serving two seasons as the offensive coordinator at William & Mary. He played wide receiver for the Tribe from 2008-11, where he was teammates with Brady, who played from 2009-12.

Orgeron said he believes in Brady's offense, and that he thought in 2020, "we lost a little bit of it, But that was just because of the expertise of Joe, and I want to get back to that offense."

Wait? So are ya'll saying Steve Ensminger was NOT the OC and primary play caller in 2019? Otherwise, why would O need to find someone to run E's offense? E's already here!!!!

Disingenuous. The scheme was always known to be Brady's.

Ensminger retired, unless you missed it.

Joe Burrow.

I hate trying to blindly recreate the Brady offense.

At least it appears the 2019 LSU offense has replaced Norm Chow's USC offenses as the ultimate offense in Orgeron's mind. So that's progress.

yeah joe was full time with football pretty much and already has a high football iq. not all qb's are going to handle what this offense throws at them.

The offense that Brady implemented is still being run. LSU used the same playbook and terminology in 2020.

Different play-callers and different personnel and execution obviously leads to different results.

So LSU isn't trying to "re-create" anything. They are trying to better run what is already created.

Couple tweaks to the running game and blocking scheme is needed but we have a (if my 2012 self could see what im about to say) a solid base in place with the passing game

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

myles was being slow walked into it all then he got hurt. E admitted they had to scrap plenty of it and make packages for the true freshman based on what they could execute so that is why it may have looked different late in the year. it was still there we just could not get true freshman to execute like brennan or anywhere near what burrow did. we will next year tho.

This is way too thought out and logical to be on TD.

Usually the truth is in the middle ground of the two extremes and I think you hit the nail on the head

This doesn't get emphasized enough. Burrow was a 5th year grad transfer that was in his 2ndd year as starting and was taking online courses so he could live football. Not every QB has the ability to process at the speed Burrow did.

Then there's Jefferson who joined an NFL roster as a rookie and was instantly one of the best WRs in the NFL. Let's not forget the Biletnikoff winning WR and 1st RD RB that was breaking tackles in the backfield to gain positive yards.

It takes X's and O's AND Jimmys and Joes.

Heard good things about peetz, so i like the potential hire. With that said orgeron not personally getting on the phone with brady and discuss it man to man is worrisome. He needs to be a tad more hands on with that kind of stuff.
