He has been around a lot of great minds but I have a question why does he never seem to stay in one place more than a year if he's so highly thought about? This seems like a really risky move to me.
He must be getting tons of praise in the coaching circles.

The word was that Calloway had already been hired as a position coach. That could be wrong.
I believe TD even posted an article stating that as well. I would be very surprised if Callaway is not an on-field coach next year. The only way I would see him staying in that scenario is if they bump his pay and have something worked out in concrete terms to get him an on field position next year.

They're not getting rid of Calloway no way in hell. Someone would have to hire him off the staff. Seems like that's the intention here they get Calloway+Mangas to go with Call. Looking at the concepts, you have Call who knows the Air Raid well. I think that's idea they're going with unless someone hires Call away.

No, his instance on constantly going to the NFL and thinking he's going to get someone like Brady again on top of his constant sitting around waiting for his "mentors" to give him recommendations to put on his short list. NCAA is loaded with plenty of potential OC targets they can hit that are not risky at all.
Forgive me if this doesn't give me confidence in a guy who seemingly gets blank checks on coaching hires to keep fricking up. He got 1 lightning in a bottle hire so far and the majority of the rest have been some really shitty ones. Wonder how boosters feel about these guys can't imagine this would excite them to write checks.
I agree and have railed against trying to recreate Brady and that he is the exception to the rule, not the rule.
But who is the safe hires you speak of that could upgrade the offense back to 2019 levels?
Before you answer, migth want to check the stats

They have moved past graham Harrell
Moorehead is apparently a no go
You arent stealing UGA OC or UF OC. Baby Briles...yea he isnt leaving, tired of moving around and has a young family. Wants to stay for a while.
Who you getting? Grimes is gone now. Sowder is a risk as this is his first big year. Longo sucks in big games, specifically against bama and sucks in the redzone.
tom Manning at ISU? If Harbaugh gets a NFL job, then Matt Campbell is taking the Michigan job and Manning is his OC.
Sheridan at Indiana? They are worse since he took over.
Who is this mysterious experienced coordinator that is putting up huge numbers?

So you mean like Peetz OC, Calloway PGC, and Mangus QB coach???

I like peetz more than some of the other names being tossed around. Young and carries risk but the resume is pretty solid and keeps us doing some of the same concepts we've established over the last few seasons
Mangas I don't really care one way or the other about

I don't see how you can have them all on field position coaches.

Calloway and Mangas would make for a crowded offensive group.
Mangas has coached WR and RB, Calloway has coached WR and QB.
We don't currently have a full-time TE coach, that position is manned by a GA.
I would be shocked if both Mangas and Calloway are hired for on-field positions.
I don't have anything against Mangas, but I wonder why LSU didn't make an effort to keeo him after last year,
And I'm guessing Joseph is still the WR coach.
We better get Freeman then bc we need someone who can be DC and LB coach. The staff is going to be heavy on the offensive side if Callaway moves up and Mangas tags along.

I think that's a possibility but the question is who's going to coach TEs. They were thinking about getting a position coach I read there awhile back so I'm not really sure. I think it depends on who the defensive side hires so you can commit certain position coaches based on needs.

What is there to like about this hire? I keep seeing this I'm being serious. Explain to me why this guy is so interesting? I don't know anything about him.
He’s been around, is clearly on an upward career trajectory and he already knows the scheme we have in place. That keeps the learning curve and pain of a transition low and keeps our players focused on improvement, rather than learning a new playbook, terminology, etc from the ground up.
Plus, Peetz more likely to get back to what made that scheme better by re-emphasizing the same areas that Brady did when he was here. It was the same system and the same base playbook, but E and Linehan obviously went in a different direction with it.

I agree, I was just wondering what he was getting at! Allegedly we have we retained Calloway for an “on the field position”, but the word allegedly should be taken very lightly around here!lol

Meh at this point just throw the TE with WRs when it comes to blocking drills send them with Oline.

Its risky, but like i pointed out, they vetted a couple guys and seems a lot of big name safe hires are not available. Most of the rest are just as big of a risk and you have to change systems.
As far as moving around alot, once he got on with
Got on as an all around guy with Santa Babara CC then UCLA as a Defensive assistant.
Then jumped to NFL as a scout with Jacksonville for 3 years.
Jacksonville in 2012- went 2-14 and HC let go. he was assistant Qb coach
so Saban brought him in as an analyst
Went back to NFL and a QC guy with Washington in 2014
then took senior offensive assistant with Raiders then bumped to Assistant QB coach, then QB coach where he coached Carr to his Pro Bowl season. But Del Rio was let go. Also from the reports at the time, he was going to be the OC in Indy under josh McDaniels before Josh changed his mind last min. Seems Peetz was left in the wind after that.
went back to Saban as an analyst for a year
then back to NFL as Carolina RB coach. HC fired but he was blocked from interviewing with other teams and promoted to QB coach this year.

Makes the most sense he gets the QB spot if he gets one but I think there's a possibility Joseph gets the ax from the investigations going on. Not sure on that though...

If you recall, Munoz supposedly got an interview for PGC, and he likely wasn’t a serious candidate coming off getting fired at Baylor. This may just be Brady and O giving Mangas a courtesy interview for a resume bump.

I would much prefer Peetz OC with Callaway PGC/QB coach then Mangus.

Thats exactly where I am. To me after looking at everyone, unless your willing to take a chance on someone like Sowder and totally change the offense, you kind of are left taking a chance. You can go back to the Saints Well again, but apparently they like Peetz better than Lombardi and the RB coach from there.
You keep callaway and you are prolly going to be fine.
I am hesitant on Mangas, if he was so good you would think we would have kept him. If he was so great you would think he would have had an on the field position by now and Brady, his BFF, would have promoted him. I do know he sucked and I mean really sucked the one season he was OC.
