I don’t think he’s ever coached anywhere near SEC country.

Neither had Kelly. This "fit" business is just nonsense. If you can coach, you can coach. And DeBoer can coach. shite.

Kelly had ample experience with big time football and recruiting. DeBore has only been at this level for four years.

but a ton of question marks compared to other candidates Such as? Serious question.

Handling the pressure put on him by fans and media. Hes has been at a P5 school for what, 2 seasons and its Washington.

Great coach, but can he handle the outside noise.

Great hire, but staff will be crucial for recruiting
LSU put up the formula for that.

Expect Bama to pouch some south recruiting coaches.

i do agree there is a difference in their resumes.

of course Bama will recruit well, but hopefully it won't be anything like they are use to.

Same was said about Kelly

Kelly was an elite recruiter.

Kalen (travel ball name ) is not.

You're fricking insane. It's a grand slam hire

Grand slam would've been Lanning, Ryan Day, Jim Harbaugh, Brian Kelly. Maybe Lincoln Riley or Sarkisian. I'd put Norvell above DeBoer as well. Hell, I'd put Kiffin and Demeco Ryans above Deboer, though I know they've burned bridges at Bama.

The behind the scenes stuff at Bama can be quite challenging to deal with. Tons of boosters and so on that want access and are giving constant pressure.

The fans and media coverage there is also intense.

Kelly had a decade + at Notre Dame, that's INSANELY different than being at Fresno State just three years ago. It's a horrible comparison

Obviously's he's a great coach, he just took Washington to the national championship. But his ability to recruit would have to be very concerning. Washington is currently ranked 36 in that regard.

Don’t understand a coach being in the NC and then leaving that team

Whats not to understand? You have to strike when your at the top of the game or your chances might pass you by

Doesn't change the fact that everyone said he wasn't a fit and not an elite recruiter.

I think it is real and I think he will be the hire. And it is a very good hire. And comp wise it is a huge pay day for him because the other mentioned names are already at the comp level that Bama can pay.

Bama hiring a one year wonder

A 2 year wonder but your point is well taken. Also 2 years with a top QB. How do we know he is a top coach and not just lucky to have a top QB?

Don’t forget, that if not for ewers being shite, deBoer would have had an all time choke job right next to cristobal. He absolutely blew it down the stretch of that game but got bailed out by a shite throw

Three out of four teams in National playoffs could be replacing a coach. Wow

Seems underwhelming…

But I guess anything will be compared to Saban
