Im sure the pressure of coaching Fresno State has really prepared him for the pressures of being the Bama coach. The jobs are practically the same….

Yep. And LSU fans laughed at people saying it. Winning is a “fit” anywhere.

@RossDellenger

With Kalen DeBoer’s move final, Alabama owes Washington about $12 million in buyout money. That, combined with DeBoer’s likely $10M+ salary, makes this an incredibly expensive move from the Crimson Tide - a commitment of near or over $100 million.

Kalen DeBoer has agreed to a deal to replace Nick Saban as
@AlabamaFTBL
’s head coach, sources tell ESPN. DeBoer led Washington to a Pac-12 title and the CFP title game in his second season at UDub. He’s won 11 or more games in seven of his nine seasons as a head coach.

Who is a better alternative if you're looking for a young talented coach that has a lot of tread on the tires and has shown consistency?

As an honest LSU fan, I fricking hate it. He is too good a coach to not be successful. Does he even have double digit losses as a Head Coach ?

He will be incredibly successful at Bama. I was hoping his ties to the Pac/NW would incline him to the Seahawks.

Can’t believe Florida hired a guy that caught lightning in a bottle for two years at fricking Utah. Dude will never be able to recruit in the south

There may not be one better, truthfully. I'm not saying he sucks, at all. Obviously, he's had great seasons for UW. He did a lot with not much at Fresno. But even his seasons at UW, would not be seen as successful to Alabama people. Great record, no national titles, and not even competitive against Michigan.

All I've been saying is- It's very difficult to maintain a championship program for more than 2 seasons. He's not done it at this level. Maybe he will at Alabama, but we'll see.

How many immediate successors to championship winning Alabama coaches have followed with a title of their own? Zero. 0-2 since Bear, and I'm not looking at before Bear. The only comparables are Ray Perkins and Mike Dubose. Neither lasted more than four seasons. Perkins got run out after a 10-3, top ten season.

We are all speculating on how he'll do. I think he'll do fine for two years, gradually decline, and either be fired, or take another job after year 5. Then Bama will go hire someone from the "Saban tree" like they tried to do for 30 years with Bear. Like many on this board, I've seen this movie before.

Hes a great coach and I’m not saying he cant thrive at Bama, just pointing out he has never been in the pressure cooker as a coach. No one knows how he will react to it.
