I believe OU used ZRG Turnkey for the Venables hire. I know OU is a client of theirs and I believe at the time I saw an announcement that Turnkey had been hired to conduct the search. They are the biggest in the business when it comes to sports leadership search.

Actually I'm pretty shocked with OU. I had them starting the season as the best defense in the conference and expected Mateer to be what we saw early on at OU. So I had them in the hunt to win the conference and make the playoffs. I thought Venables was a good hire. I thought it would take some time but once he got his guys OU would be built for this conference a lot better than Riley would have. And maybe he will. Probably would be different if you still had Jeff Lebby. Who knows he may end up back at OU.
