re: How hard is it to switch to the spread (serious question) - abellsujr
LSU runs the spread
Which is what I thought. Somebody said it's just an older form of it. We completely abandoned it against Arkansas, though and started a power run scheme....

re: How hard is it to switch to the spread (serious question) - abellsujr
The OL has struggled mightily this year to be able to effectively run a pro style offense.
A strong oline is the MOST important part of trying to run a pro style offense. As well as an elite back. And a deep threat WR. We have none of those. WTF do we have?...

re: How hard is it to switch to the spread (serious question) - abellsujr
You need to recruit the right players to run it right. We currently don't have the QB, slot WRs, or RBs to run that offense.
In fairness, we don't have the right players to run our current scheme....
In other words, the most important indicator of his long-term viability as LSU's head coach.
I would argue that recruiting is the most important indicator. But yes. He has failed in a very important hire. ...

Regardless if SE is here next year or not, I believe help is on the way. Both in recruiting and offensive staff....

re: Do you believe that LSU will ever beat Bama with Ensminger at OC? - abellsujr
I think SE will not be OC after this year or next. And we will probably not beat Alabama next year. So I will say no....
The circumstances were that his defenses sucked.
No doubt. But circumstances aside, Stoops had been the DC for over 10 years. Over 5 years consecutively. That was a different situation all together. ...

re: Emery looks like Lesean McCoy - abellsujr
He's got some sick cut ability and break away speed. His highlights are fun to watch. I think McCoy is a good comparison....
I still maintain that the logical progression is that when Sullivan's contract runs out this season Joseph becomes the full-time WR coach and we hire a co-OC that takes over when SE's contract expires.
Maintain the perception of stability, bring in a high profile replacement, AND SE ge...

re: There's a very high chance that SE remains our OC next year... - abellsujr
Yeah, I mean, even if it's in title alone. There's something to be said about appearances. If we bring in a coOC, then he would have the majority of the control because this is his show going forward. So everyone is happy. SE gets the final year on his contract. We keep the perception of sta...
But my sentiments have changed. He's not the guy and if we're going to do some sort of analyst situation, he needs to be the analyst and we need another OC altogether.
This may happen. SE may even step down after this year. But he may not. And I see almost a zero chance he gets fir...
Support him when the team struggles against SELU and La Tech and an awful Arky defense? That what you mean?
I understand what you're saying. And no. I'm not saying that we don't call out shortcomings. I just think there's a high chance he stays another year. So let's do what we ca...

re: There's a very high chance that SE remains our OC next year... - abellsujr
I would think the right hire would negate the negatives of making another change.
That's possible. But it also shows instability. People have even pointed out on here how much of a clown show we look like by firing all of these coordinators. So IMO, we get the best of both worlds....
No offense, but don't you think that if you need an assistant to help your OC scheme then you might have a problem with your OC in the first place.
Yes....
Does anyone here really think an elite coach who sweats every minute detail of a program to get a championship level team would not make a change after one year of this shite show offense?
You may be right. I also think that things are not as easy as they seem on the surface. Firing ano...
we did it after 2012 too.
Yep. Here's another example. We've done it twice, but I can't find any other times. Cam was brought in as an upgrade. Maybe O does that, too. I'm just simply saying that it doesn't happen often....

I'm not saying that a change does not need to be made. I'm simply saying that changes do not happen often. If you can find any, show us. I can't. We did it, but Crowton had been here for a few years. OU did it, but there may have been other circumstances. ...

re: There's a very high chance that SE remains our OC next year... - abellsujr
He may very well step aside. And I'm not saying that programs have never made a change after a 2-3 loss season. But it really does not happen much. I really do want a new OC. Everyone knows that. But if we don't get a new one, I want whoever is on the offensive staff to have the best opportunity...
