They’re welcome to appeal to a judge in Oxford or Lubbock

Absolute shite show, you have a ref that used VAR wrong, you took days to finally make a correct decision using the rules in place and now this.

Trump should call Belgium and remind them of the debt they owe us for not holding up the agreements. Make Belgium our territory if they can’t pay.

So they're mad that this deferment-probation, which is allowed and has historical precedent, is somehow outside of the rules, and they get granted an appeal outside of the rules/norms as a response?

The way this whole thing has gone I expect them to overturn the decision an hour before kickoff

Yes they are mad that a rule that has been used over and over is being used. They are ignoring that the red card was clearly against the rules that are in place for VAR

Do we know if this request was made for any of the group stage reds and what the outcome was? Genuinely asking in case they try to revert back to a denial decision earlier in the tournament.

Belgium hopes FIFA will waffle on its decision.

Imagine being that much of a bitch where you need a technical advantage to keep a player out in order to win. Go eat a waffle you bitches

That first gif might be the most pathetic flop I’ve ever seen in any sport.

How does Belgium get to appeal something that has no bearing on them? They weren’t involved in the match where the red card occurred. This is absurd

Even though I’m sure that FIFA is like, “sure we’ll hear your appeal, wink wink”

A compromise has been reached. Brendan Sorsby will be able to play for Belgium, until his hearing in February 2027.

This is the problem with taking 3 days to make a decision. Belgium would have been much less pissed off if FIFA did this on Thursday morning not Sunday. Instead, FIFA let multiple days of practice go by where both teams (not just Belgium mind you) were preparing to play the game without Balogun playing.

I think a lot of us would feel the same if we played Norway in the finals and Haaland was ruled out and then the day before the game ruled in. Obviously Balogun is not Haaland and it's more extreme but the point remains

Yes, Portugal is a founding member of UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) and competes in all of its tournaments.

apparently the "red line" doesn't exist for FIFA suspending Ronaldo's 3-game ban.
