re: FIFA allows Belgian FA to appeal Balogun’s suspended suspension

They didn't even overturn it, they just suspended it until a later date, and it's hardly unprecedented. In fact, there are many examples, and most don't even have the caveat of improper VAR usage.
If anything, Balogan's suspension of his red card should have been the least controversial of all.

That's not even close to reality. It seems like you're more worried about the perception and what other countries think, which is serious low-T behavior. Get over it and man up.
Because the argument for Flo has been about the improper use of VAR and how the red card being suspended is absolutely legal.
Now Trump's dumbass muddies the waters and puts into light something that is strictly prohibited according to FIFA rules. You'd know that if you actually looked up the rules instead of regurgitating Andrew Tate buzzwords like Low T

Trump is strictly prohibited from talking to his friend Infantino during the World Cup?

People that talked shite about Trump getting involved are the same ones bitching that he got involved.
The same unhappy people are shockingly unhappy.
The same unhappy people are shockingly unhappy.

I think you hit on a big part of it. There are miserable people in the world who just love to be miserable. It would not have mattered one bit if Balogan got reinstated and Trump was never linked to it. People would still be bitching.

They don't give a shite that Balogun was given a red through improper processes. They couldn't care less that FIFA refs can swing a game with zero accountability.
All we heard before the World Cup was how the USMNT would get destroyed by a good European side. And yet that they're shitting their britches over the terrible USMNT being allowed to play the 14th most valuable player in Ligue 1.

To be clear, as of this moment, the RBFA has still not received any decision or any explanation from FIFA regarding this matter. It therefore has no alternative but to challenge the player's eligibility for the upcoming match.
Oh, frick off with this, you thin-waffle eating mondo-twats.
“We didn’t appeal, but we’re appealing…”
I hope we score 10 fricking goals and Trump initiates a group video call with Infantino, JT Batson, and invites the RBFA president to the call only to show him his nuts while smoking cigars and singing the national anthem.

Europeans are whiny, self-loathing pussies. They resent the United States as a whole and they resent this World Cup being a resounding success so far. If this were Cape Verde they'd be applauding.

Yes Trump as president is prohibited from talking to FIFA about that call. If he were just some random rich dude then no, but he's the president.
If we want to combat European whining about "integrity" then we should do by using the rules against them which up until Trump started yapping we were absolutely doing. If he never said anything then all this bitching would be totally unjustified and hypocritical

Is there any proof of Trump actually calling? All I have seen is his “Thank you” tweet…
Genuinely asking.
Genuinely asking.

He’s not prohibited from talking to FIFA, just to be clear. What is prohibited is undue “governmental influence.”
Which obviously a phone call could fall into that category depending on what was said, but if Trump really did just ask Infantino what the rule was and if there was a review process that the U.S. could go through than that’s not undue influence. It’s just bad optics.
ETA: it’s been pretty undisputed that Trump did call Infantino about the red card. What exactly was said is unclear but it doesn’t seem to be anything particularly egregious.

The NYT and WSJ and Politico have confirmed it. Trump himself said he made the call.
Posted on 7/6/26 at 10:27 am to DByrd2
Trump asked FIFA to review the call which whether or not they were doing that anyway is now moot because Trump can't not make himself the center of attention
Posted on 7/6/26 at 10:30 am to MetArl15
Any info on what was said, or was it just a call?
If you’re whining about “bad optics”, you’re both correct and overly emotionally responsive.
If you’re whining from the standpoint of potential corruption rather than proven corruption, the same goes.
To anyone screaming about corruption, frick you unless you can prove it.

FIFA literally could've just ignored all of our appealing. They've done it countless times before. Trump getting involved was the only avenue we had.
And many Europeans were gloating about Balogun getting the red. Like 90% of them were on the side of FIFA and didn't care about the ref giving a red through VAR - they just wanted to criticize Americans for being upset about a clear injustice.
It's best to just let the Euros piss themselves because no matter what, they want the USA to lose.

Essentially it's a shite storm of stupidity with the right outcome coming out in the end even if it were through less than legal means potentially
Frankly all this could have been avoided if the ref just gave Flo a yellow or FIFA acted swiftly and was transparent with their actions

In the context of the game, I'm not even sure it's a yellow considering Dzeko got absolutely nothing for a clear attempt to injure Tyler Adams.

My problem is we had an extremely solid case and still do, Trump just completely muddies the waters by getting involved due to the lack of transparency from FIFA

Inappropriate? Sure. Proof of corruption? Absolutely not.

That’s a known quality of his, even before he was POTUS. Get the frick over it…
