They'll probably make a decision on Tuesday. If US is out, it won't matter.

what was the reasoning given for why ronaldo's suspension was delayed, I never really looked into it.

His 2nd and 3rd bans were suspended. Ronaldo already missed one game in qualifying for the red card. Their gripe is that Balogun will have missed zero via a rule that is entirely subjective on FIFA’s part.

We’d be pissed too if we were in a foreign World Cup and a red card was reversed after a call from the host country’s president.

But I do agree Belgium should stop whining. They look even worse because of it.

Who is we? Because I don't think I'd be that pissed, especially under the circumstances of it being a bad call, which is subjective of course so ok, but also improper usage of review, which is not at all subjective.

There really is zero controversy, or at least, there shouldn't be.

Yea I wouldn’t be pissed at all if this was in reverse and Luka or whatever his name for Belgium got a red card based on illegal use of VAR and then it got over turned. I wouldn’t be pissed even if they made up a rule on the fly which they didn’t.

It’s just anti American cry baby bullshite because our country is better than them. They should be grateful because they don’t exist without us. At least they don’t exist as an independent nation without us.

It shows we have come a long way in soccer, win or lose tonight, that Europe is throwing a fricking fit over little ole USA getting proper justice over a terrible decision and terrible application of that decision.

If it was a bad call after an improper review, the remedy is to get rid of the red card and sentence to time served with the 30 minutes of 10 man soccer.

They didn’t do that. They suspended the sentence to favor the host country after a call from the president. It is FIFA 101 corruption and it stinks.

That said, screw it, I hope we still destroy the Belgians and people are pissed the rest of the tournament.

We have grown up for sure in how much of a threat we have started to become to the European powers.

It will only get worse for them as our athletes go over and get more time in their systems and our home systems keep improving to produce players that can compete in Europe.

There's zero proof of this. Not saying the call didn't happen, but that it had any affect on the review process. It was black and white procedural errors, phone call or no phone call. The correct decision was made.

Everything in this sentence is true.

Hasn't FIFA already used this same rule this world cup in allowing Otamendi and Caicedo to play?

Unfortunately, saying it over and over doesn't make it true.

So let me get this straight. The US has no way to appeal the red card, but Belgium can appeal this?

And this isn't corruption?

The suspended sentence happened after a call from the president and it favored the host nation.

There is no way for any of us to link it causally. But everything is true.

not what you said. you said they suspended the sentence TO favor the host country. you have no proof of this.

maybe they just made the right decision BECAUSE it was the right decision.
