That's a very reasonable explanation, that no one in Europe will believe.
I'm not here to say whether it's true or not, simply that people have already made up their minds that OMB.

Like the fact that we call it soccer because when the laws were put into place, the country who started it called it soccer (association football) to differentiate it from the already established sport of rugger (rugby football).
I love Monty Python, but that asshat John Cleese made a condescending video about how the US is dumb for not calling it football. Really pissed me off, because we used the name that his own country did long before we named it soccer.

They brought the game over with a name for it that we still use today which worked for us because we had a new game at the time that was all the rage that we called Football (American Football). Soccer was still a term across the pond widely used until the lat 1970's. Funny that the Socceroos and Le Soccer Canadian seem to be given a slide. Just another example of stupid Americans not understanding the game.
Or the fact that they think it’s called football because it’s “played with your feet”
Just a complete ignorance of sports history. All the sports are a football because they are played on your feet, rather than on a horse.

The man who knows a lot about sports doesn't know a red card means you miss the next game

Long story short, everything is on the up and up and Infantino hears from heads of state and other stakeholders all the time.
He doesn't say this he says he hears from Trump the quote doesn't mention anybody else.
But as long as the head of FIFA says everything is ok then who are we to question it?

Don’t mind him. His pussy hurts.

Look at every English speaking country: USA - Soccer, Canada - Soccer, South Africa - Soccer, New Zealand - Soccer, Ireland - Soccer, Australia - Soccer, UK - Soccer (1863-1970's) Football (1970's - Today). Australia has tried forcing a change to Football to more closely align with the rest of the world since 2015, but they still call their team the Socceroos.
we named it soccer

America invented the automobile, but EU is dumb because:
Trunk-Boot
Gas-Petro
They drive on the other side of the road
Yet no one in America cares because who cares.

Infantino did say he receives calls from heads of state and government officials discussing football governance matters on a regular basis.
He did not give specific names or mention the specific matters they talk about.
Obviously may be lying or embellishing but he definitely was trying to make the point that it’s not usual for governments to make direct contact or overtures.

So are you blind or stupid?

My clumsy statement was clumsy.
We didn't name it soccer. We assumed that naming convention. We just didn't switch when the UK did in the 60s, as it were.
