Agree with this.
However, Landy just seems to give zero fricks at this point so maybe Klinns just feels that Brad Davis* will give more effort when given the opportunity.
Landy has been also quoted as saying that he may not be fit half the training sessions and that it's a crap shoot as to whether he's good to go so that probably has a lot to do with the final decision.
I'll trust Klinns and his decisions at this point.

Brad Friedel just said Jurgy's decision must be personal. Brian McBride said Donovan should go.
No offense but I'll take their observations over some posters attempting to justify this abortion.

The thing that bothers me about this the most is that somebody's lying. It's either the current head coach or the best player that we've ever produced.

He also said that klinsman wants players who are consistent and that he can't train 12 days straight. His body won't allow it.

I disagree.
Dumping Donovan bothers me more the more I think about it and hear/read the opinions of people whose opinions I respect.
Seems the kind of managerial move which saw Klinsmann soar to such heights of success with Germany and Bayern.

I think the fact that Donovan thought he was doing well enough to contend for a starting spot is very telling.
He's a guy that doesn't blow smoke about his performances. I'm surprised nobody asked him if he would go back if someone gets injured in training or the friendlies.

So Landon says he has to hold back in training if he wants to be match fit, but also says his fitness could not have been a reason for being cut? Are you fit or not, Landon?

I genuinely think he's a mediocre player, especially now. He was once a great player for us, but everyone's talking about a man from 4 years ago before a mental breakdown and a run of awful form. He's been a great ambassador for the sport, but that's not going to help him play well in Brazil. Why can't we just let go and support the god damned team? Honestly, I think he was probably less than great in camp, and Jurgen's playing it cool to keep his image where it is.
I can't wait to see every "OMG Julian Green with a bad touch. Bet Landon would have had a better touch." and "Brad Davis isn't Landon. I'm weeping!" posts starting next Tuesday.

If anything shows how far we have to go it that dropping Donovan's probably causing less 'meltdown" than there would have been had Prandelli picked Giaccherini for the Italian team again.

No, this much outrage over an aging, out of form player who openly says he can't perform well day in and day out not being selected based on his past is asinine.
In any other nation, his sabbatical would have been enough. He was given a chance to come back. He did well riding his "I'm back from Africa and people still love me" high in the Gold Cup. This year, both with the national team and his club, he's been shite. He came into camp out of shape last time, and he was given one last invite to see what he provided. Instead, other people were chosen to try a different look.
This has happened to several players worldwide. I get he's done a ton for the USMNT ,and everyone has more credibility than someone who has already done well at this level on why he should be there. Fact of the matter is that every hack in America who has seen a match or played FIFA has some conspiracy theory as to why he wasn't picked. If Jurgen thought he'd help us win, he'd be there. What we learned over his sabbatical is that we could play attractive football without him, and we could win without him, regardless of the opponents.
This "strikes fear into opponents" shite is insane to me. Does anyone really think that anyone on any of our group stage opponent squads fears Landon Donovan in the least bit? He was a great player for us, and his time is over. This was a victory lap for him, and the reason everyone's mad is because the mean German took that away from him.
