Maybe he brought him in and then decided early that he was going to cut him. I just don't see a reason to make the cut until the last possible moment.

Forget it, you aren't going to find out for a while. I don't know your life situation and I'm not trying to be a dick, but I have many more important things to worry about than why Cakes got cut. If I didn't have a family, sure, it would bug me as well.
