re: Milk Sandwiches. Southern thing? - thesoccerfanjax
Never occurred to me that people just keep cereal and deli meat around. That’s why the bread and milk thing never made sense to me. Like just bread and milk, nothing else? Now it kinda makes sense....

re: Why does snow close the South? - thesoccerfanjax
The better question is what’s the obsession with “bread and milk” during winter weather events. I? mean I? understand it’s sustenance food but surely you can do better than bread and milk? At least maybe something to go on the bread?...

OT mechancs: Question about possible oil leak after oil change. - thesoccerfanjax
On my 2012 Silverado 1500 I've been noticing oil spots on the driveway after getting the oil changed a couple weeks ago. I just started noticing the spots a couple days ago and never noticed them before the oil change but I can't be 100% sure they weren't there. There is oil all over the underside...

The intrusion of whites into bilingual schools - thesoccerfanjax
https://www.theatlantic.com/education/archive/2017/12/the-middle-class-takeover-of-bilingual-schools/549278/ It’s long and not worth the read, but you get the idea....

re: The rise of childlessness - thesoccerfanjax
People that don’t want kids shouldn’t have them and most people that do want them probably shouldn’t have them either. It’s not really complicated. ...

re: Matt Damon speaks some truths on #metoo - thesoccerfanjax
I'm not saying any of it is right. Not at all. I'm just mostly pointing out that most men have also been sexually assaulted, so for women to act like men don't know what it's like...well pretty sure most guys have had their arse grabbed by a nasty old lady in a dive bar at closing time. Again, not...

re: Matt Damon speaks some truths on #metoo - thesoccerfanjax
So Matt Damon is not allowed to have an opinion because....sexual assault only happens to women? Only men can be the assualter and only women can be the assaultee? I think 99% of men have probably been "sexually assaulted" more than once by a woman. Moreover, the feminists are really shooting t...
I am 6’2, 290 and can bench 325 still at 40 with very few trips to the gym.
You know that's a really shitty bench at your body weight right? 1.5x body weight bench is a pretty OK standard for a weekend warrior type who isn't really serious about it....

re: I know now why USA soccer sucks IRT the rest of the world - thesoccerfanjax
But, that shit's not really revving up till like age 12 at best.
LOL no. Most kids that have any semblance of talent AND their parents take it seriously, are playing club/travel/academy ball by 9, sometimes as young as 7 or 8. It sounds like your son plays in a rec league (I ...

re: people actually think not qualifying is gonna be that negative towards our future chances? - thesoccerfanjax
If you believe more academies for rich white kids is going to solve the problem
The problem here is that you don't understand the point or purpose of an academy (at least as discussed in this thread). Academies are for everyone and most are not expensive at all. The goal is that ...

re: Regarding Pay To Play - thesoccerfanjax
I see the Armada academies (all ages, all levels) practice sometimes and I have no idea what they do or don't pay to be on the squad. But I can say I feel pretty good about how the players are playing, even the really young ones. When I was growing up, kids those ages displaying that level of skil...

re: It's amazing how many people still don't get it...even "real" soccer fans. - thesoccerfanjax
I know but this isn't really directed at anyone on this particular board. Sorry if it seemed otherwise. I also kinda forgot how the USMNT was historically described as "great athletes, lots of heart, not very good at soccer". Now it's more like "poor athletes, no heart, not very good at socce...
