Been running around like hell today. This may have already been discussed in here so if it has, I apologize. I saw Cakes' comments today about deserving to go based on the camp and so forth and everyone acting like because of this, he should have been taken. Has nobody on here ever heard someone say this at some point in life and be wrong. For example, "I killed that interview, I am going to get that job" or growing up hearing someone cut from a team say the same thing?

Sure, but apparently Parkhurst backed him up. Then again, Parkhurst also didn't make the cut and I'd rather hear from someone who did, like Howard or Bradley. Probably won't happen though, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

Call me a Landon homer, but like he said in that video, he is known to not bullshite you when asked about his form/health/performance.

I mean people are quick to take his whole, "I can't always practice at 100%" comment without questioning it, but when he says something that favors him it is assumed that he is lying.

I also think the fact that you have Lalas, Twellman, McBride and Friedel implying that they believe it was personal with Klinsi says a lot too.

Most of those guys are still heavily involved with the program.

No, I don't think he is lying, but it sounds as if he's going both ways. We won't probably ever know what Howard, Bradley and Deuce think until one of them retires and writes a book or Jurgy gets fired.

At the end of it all, maybe too much is being made of this and Klinsmann simply thinks Landon isn't good enough. But with everything that has been said by the fitness coaches, other players in camp, Landon, media, JK's son, something just doesn't seem right and I really do think it's worth talking about.

Sure I'm still disappointed that he didn't make it, but I'm also genuinely curious as to what led to it.

Like I said, unless Jurgy gets fired or one of the others retire, you probably won't hear the real story or real opinions. What is going to be funny is that someone will probably pick up a knock and Landon will be there anyways. One thing I haven't seen anyone put on here, and they may have, is why did Jurgy cut before he had to do so? Is it because he was cutting Landy and didn't want him to score a few goals in the send offs and make his cut look even worse?

Klinsman screwed up, Donovan is soccer in America. This isn't Europe where they know everyone on the team and understand if a marque name is left off. If he is trying to enhance the game, don't cut the biggest name in the game. Even if Donovan isn't the best option to start, you still take him. Instead you take a guy who is left-footed and delivers nice crosses. Brad Davis is not a top 23 player in this country, Donovan is or may not be, but you still take him.

99% sure it was because he realized he was going to cut Landon and wanted the shite to hit the fan early, rather than right before we left for Brazil.

Yep. I also think it's kind of fricked up that he cut the 7 before the first friendly.

Yeah, but if Donovan would have scored a bunch, he couldn't have cut him, right?

Yeah. I was hoping he would let us play two of them before deciding. Or at least 1. Not sure when the deadline is.

agreed, see them in action before you cut them. Give them a chance, especially a guy like Landon

I agree. Let Landon look like shite in a televised friendly before saying he's not one of the best 23.

The problem I have with the theory that he always knew Donovan wasn't going to make it is why would he even bring him into the camp?

Surely, he isn't THAT vindictive to where he would basically taunt him.

I think I heard June 2nd on the radio. Not sure as I was half paying attention.

Yep. The way Bob did it in 2010 was that he had the 30-man play in the first two and then cut it down to 23 for the last one to act as a final send-off.

Somewhere around there. Our 2nd friendly is when? 1,2,3? Can't remember. Anyway, I disagree with naming the squad before at least 1 friendly.

Unfortunately, I will be out of the country until the World Cup starts, so I won't be able to watch any of the games. However, I expect the Azerbaijan game to be a cakewalk. We should win 5-0. If it is 1-0, I would be very worried.

However, I don't think that's going to happen. We'll win easily, and I don't think any important conclusions will be drawn from who scores against back-ups in the Turkish Second Division. I can see your point though, if Donovan scored a goal or two against them. It would be tough as hell to cut him then.

I still think the main reason is that he wanted the fallout to occur now, and on the off chance someone gets injured, he can call someone back. I wouldn't be surprised if it's Corona or Boyd though.

It is interesting to note that this is the healthiest we have probably ever been. No one's really injured besides Stu Holden (who has been hurt damn near every day for years) and Josh Gatt, I believe. And Gatt is very much a peripheral guy.

This would only make things worse because he said multiple times that Landon would be the first guy that he calls.

The Nigeria one is on June 7th. I am pretty sure I am going to that one. I think it is the third friendly.
