Landon is a great player, but I've never liked him. He's always been a lil bitch. The coach is paid to make these decisions, he will also lose his job for making bad ones. We will just have to let this play out. Landon will still have a job whether he goes to Brazil or not.

It just pisses me off that he's not willing to just go down quietly and allow this to die down. All he's done is make things worse. This goes back to things like the sabbatical. If he care that much about his teammates, he'd take the diplomatic way out. Instead, he's talking to press causing more uproar by saying he deserved to be there.

When the news came out, I genuinely felt for him and was worried about it. I even spent a good while scouring the web to see if he'd been hurt because I wanted him there. The sudden switch from a positive "We can beat these guys" atmosphere to this LSU-esque coach hating negativity is enough to annoy anyone, but the incessant bitching won't ever stop as long this continues. If he cared about the team, he'd have declined the press to allow it to die down.

He's not doing anything to take the high road, and regardless, he's helping to distract everyone from the most important thing, the World Cup.

He's made excuses for why things didn't work out every where he played minus the galaxy. He said he wasn't fit. Now he's bitching blaming someone else. That has always been Donovan's schtick. He's the greatest American player ever, hands down. But at 32 he isn't. Move on and support the club. I will enjoy the world cup, the rest of you can jerk off with your Landon tears.

In any other nation, his sabbatical would have been enough

Are you fricking kidding me? Fernando Redondo quit the Argentine national team because his coach wanted him to get a haircut. He quit the national team right before a World Cup.

The next coach called him up the day he was hired.

Patrice Evra and multiple French players fought with their coach during the World Cup. Besides a washed-up Nicolas Anelka, basically every single player was welcomed back with open arms.

You have Rosicky, Ujfalusi, etc getting fined for partying with hookers in between qualifers, the Mexican players getting suspended for several months and almost all of them coming back (other than Vela) immediately after, etc.

I suppose France, Czech Republic, Mexico, and Argentina are all minnows, right?

What we learned over his sabbatical is that we could play attractive football without him, and we could win without him, regardless of the opponents.

Honduras 2- USA 1
The Costa Rica snow game
Scoreless draw in Azteca
Brad Evans saving us from an embarrassing loss in Jamaica in the 92nd minute

None of those games were attractive football, although the Costa Rica game was going to be a disaster for anyone.

The next 2 games were very good, but they were home games against Panama and Honduras. They damn well better have been good games.

If Landon Donovan is a troublemaker, you have not paid the slightest bit of attention to international soccer.

Other very successful USMNT players with lots of cred disagree with you.

That's just, like, your opinion, man.

My main point has been the same throughout this entire dilemma. I wanted Landon Donovan there, but if there's some reason that he's not, so be it. Until the three friendlies are over, I'm going to remain optimistic. Once those are done, I may feel differently. Regardless, turning on the manager and players who may have taken a spot is the worst possible thing that could happen at this point.

People need to rewatch the 2nd half of the Mexico friendly. And any of his galaxy games recently.

He is absolutely to blame for sucking right before the World Cup. IF JK just doesn't like him, Landon sure made it easy to leave him off.

Either way, WTF does anyone hope to accomplish by wringing their hands about it for days?

And what is Donovan doing by saying these things? Not cool.

If that's the question you ask, WTF do you have to accomplish by posting in this thread?

Thread wouldn't exist if everyone wasn't bitching. It would be pretty much exactly the same if I hadn't posted in it.

Oh, and I hope to make some of you feel badly for your continued woe is me attitude right before the WC.
I think it just might be some BS personality issue and if so then Jurgen sucks and should DIAF, but either way it happened and what Donovan is doing and what the collective soccer fan nation is doing needs to STOP.

This thread exists because Donovan spoke for the first time since.

So you are trying to troll.

How come no one is giving Julian shite for doing absolutely nothing in that same friendly except for going down way too easy? Another unfair double standard. P

Recent form isn't personal.

And what about turning his back on the team for an extended period of time?

then i present...green or chandler. both refute that point

chandler has ignored the USNT and green has been injured

who is a better player for international competition: brad or landon?

Slow, I have asked that question multiple times, and I am yet to get a straight answer.

Did we take our best 23? Yes or no?
