Trump demands California voter ID law for wildfire relief and threatens FEMA upon arrival in North Carolina
President Donald Trump on Friday said he would demand that California overhaul its election laws and reverse environmental policies as a condition of any federal funds to help the state recover from wildfires that have devastated the Los Angeles area in recent weeks.

Coercive DT is the good DT. Especially the shite that relates to CA's fire-friendly environment.

I say let California kill itself. Businesses and people are fleeing their far left policies and they are literally burning the state to the ground. The sooner California is no longer the petri dish of stupid liberal ideas that infest the country, the better off the US will be.

Bout time mature adults were back making the decisions.

This seems like a tiny fraction of the hardship the federal government caused Louisiana by strong-arming them to adopt the 21 yo drinking age.
I don’t even figure what the hardship here might possibly be.

Whats with the downvotes?
California didnt vote for Trump just like North Carolina didnt vote for Biden and was completely forgotten when they ran into a natural disaster.
I see this as eye for an eye.

Ok.
If everything is on the up-and-up out there, it seems like a simple request to comply with.
Ball’s in Gavin’s court.

Disaster funding for citizens and federal highway dollars paid to the State itself are not the same thing.

Wouldn't it be people unable to get relief funds over a political spat?

Ok what’s the problem?
Things related to the disaster, like water distribution, make sense because they can combat future disasters.
Things unrelated are just pure federal government coercion. Screw that.
Eventually, the Dems will be back in charge.
That said, I read this as a possible Trump-negotiating tactic.

I don't know how this wouldn't run afoul of the Dole decision.

Why are you leaving out trump also wants water?

Because fire mitigation isn't unreasonable as a condition or piece of the disaster money.
