I think Pittman's downfall is he was great for old school college football where relationships and recruiting mattered. Once the money got involved he was in over his head. The whole I'll be my own GM thing went bad real fast. If he had issues managing games, he durn sure was going to fail at managing player salaries.

He should have hired somebody to handle that from the beginning and it keeps his hands clean with the team.

I genuinely liked Pittman. Ran into him at BWA during a Tennessee basketball game one time and he was nice as heck. I just think his trajectory was going down, and he was getting burned out with the money game.

Could we have gotten a big name, I highly doubt it. This show is so far in the gutter nobody wants to pump money into it. Sadly those people should have watched Indiana and what happens when you hire a good coach and give him the resources he needs.

Right now we are at the mercy of money, and I don't think anybody around here has the wallet to put a championship caliber team together. And the NWA big money is more concerned with art and bike trails.
