America will continue to be fricked as long as we continue to hold onto the two party system.

I also think being employed, having an IQ above a certain point, and being able to pass a civics exam that shows you have a moderate understanding of world events should be required to vote

The pizza hut employee who can't string together a coherent sentence should have no say in our political system

Trump went along with it
Worse. Trump primaries Thomas Massie for not going along with spending MORE. Even Nancy Pelosi wouldn't go along with all the spending Trump wanted. The idea that Trump was a victim of COVID doesn't hold up, because he no only wanted all of the spending--he wanted even more spending and stimulus checks.

What about cutting taxes for rich folk

That wouldn't put much of a dent.

Where they would likely go, especially if the communists DSA get in power, is to the $47 trillion in retirement accounts of ordinary Americans.

You would quickly see ordinary middle class people suddenly be classified as "rich folk".

here's what i do know becky, i don't live in his district so i couldn't vote for him if i had wanted to, secondly that a 6 term congressman got defeated in his district by over 10,000 votes in a race where about 90k votes were cast, in a district that went for trump by 30 points. being a maverick and a thorn in trumps side seemed like a pretty stupid idea for a guy that went to MIT

Oh damn I wouldn’t want to get downvoted. No not that. I don’t live my life seeking the approval of others on social media not matter if the feedback is positive or negative. People can downvote away. It doesn’t upset me in the least. You and other folks can live life seeking some kind of positive self gratification and approval of being upvoted but it’s not how I roll.

Now it’s not a new revelation to find out that the US Government is spending money like crazy. Is it sustainable? No at some point the debt will have to be dealt with in a serious way.

If you or the rest of the down voters thinks that electing a bunch of Communists and Socialists is the answer to solving the national debt crisis is the answer then you have another thing coming. If the Dems manage to take power and control of all 3 branches of government then this country is finished. They will move with speed to pack the court with activist judges that will rubber stamp what they want to do. They will start passing all these insane policies that they have talked about for years. The Green New Deal, Medicare for all, etc, etc, etc. All the fraud will be back. The borders will be back wide open. USAID and all the crazy stuff it was funding overseas will be back. There will be no changing things the next election because they will make D.C. and Puerto Rico states. They will pass mass amnesty. Once the Dems take back control of both the House and the Senate along with the WH and then ends the filibuster to pack the court the will own all three branches of government at that point. There will be no checks on what they can do. We will have perpetual Democrat rule with absolutely no way to stop them. If you and the rest of the downvoters thinks debt is skyrocketing now under Trump then I ask you to please just wait and watch what happens if the Dems manage to reclaim power. The spending you have watched skyrocket now and in the past will look frugal compared to what is coming if the Commies and Socialists in the Dem Party are voted into office in a couple of years.

Just to give some context to the thread:

Annual U.S. Deficits (Fiscal Years 2008–2025)

2025: $1.78 trillion
2024: $1.83 trillion
2023: $1.70 trillion
2022: $1.38 trillion
2021: $2.77 trillion
2020: $3.13 trillion (All-time peak due to COVID-19 stimulus)
2019: $984 billion
2018: $779 billion
2017: $665 billion
2016: $587 billion
2015: $438 billion
2014: $483 billion
2013: $680 billion
2012: $1.08 trillion
2011: $1.30 trillion
2010: $1.29 trillion
2011: $1.30 trillion
2009: $1.41 trillion (Financial crisis response)
2008: $455 billion

Trump admins spend in-line with Biden and GFC-era Obama. I doubt we see a noticeable difference.

Folks our only chance at salvation and turning the debt around is President Donald Trump. Both the Republi-CANTS and the Demi-RATS would rather watch Rome burn than do the right thing. Hopefully soon, President Trump can 'take out' Thune and a few other pieces of dead wood. Otherwise, financially we are doomed. God help us if interest rates escalate for a lengthy period of time. Prayers please that Trump is able to work his magic!

I've been watching a lot of economic doom porn. Bessent is doing everything he can, intervening in yen markets, buying our own bonds (this doesn't sound good), and likely intervening in energy markets. I don't think he can keep it going, but let's pray he can because we're looking at 2008 on steroids.
