re: Under whose watch did Muslims and Somalians come in droves into the Country?
Posted by Bayou Warrior 64 on 12/14/25 at 2:42 pm to tigerbait3488
I believe most of the Somalians have been in Minnesota, etc., for more than a decade. I would venture to say that it was probably in the mid to late 1990s.
re: Why is the NFL committed to social justice ?

Hey
Didn't you get the memo? You don't have to watch the NFL.
I stopped watching 6 or 7 years ago when the NFL began with the Colin Kapernick b.s., racial justice, etc. blah, blah, blah!

re: Are data centers bad for local communities?

Rarely are large developments in any form 'good' for the community. 'The market' based behavior of large corporations will ALWAYS be two or three steps ahead of 'the government' (be it federal, state, or local). Thus, more than likely the community will usually be on the short end of the stick!

re: The board room is killing America. And themselves.

I appreciate your sharing this, but the problem and solution are much simpler. The government needs to stay the hell out of every business and industry (which it never will). The government needs to stop picking winners and losers.
It starts with a SIMPLE tax system (the fair plan, flat rate, whatever). No one gets preferential accelerated depreciation over another industry, etc. We sadly are a nation which likes our cheap shite (thank you WalMart and now Amazon) regardless of the simple fact that buying local and USA is better when available . We have been brainwashed that cheaper is better since the mid 1980s. In doing so, the local businesses in most town have been gutted and abandoned.

My son had similar issues. Drug court within our community is the only thing that saved him.
Hold on tight to your family. Grow closer to your faith.
Prayers for you, your daughter and family. Take care!

re: Not a lot of trick or treaters
Posted by Bayou Warrior 64 on 11/1/25 at 9:14 am to LSUJML
I think trick or treating has gone the way of the word SALE. They both used to mean something, but in today's terms are lost. I grew up in the early 70s most people didn't have much. We certainly didn't have bags of candy laying around in the pantry.
re: Why are people allowed to not carry/cancel insurance? And why do police not confirm this?
Posted by Bayou Warrior 64 on 10/28/25 at 1:55 pm to BluegrassBelle

mean, if he made the first payment up front for the insurance then cancelled there's not much the insurance company can do. Aside from requiring a larger payment up front for a longer period of time (say, paying for a year at a time) there's not a whole lot the insurance company can do to not allow him to cancel/stop paying. And most people are not going to be able to afford that.
I totally disagree. This is where things need to change. Insurance companies ELECT to provide a payment plan on the policy. It is actually two separate transactions (the coverage AND the financing). Try going to Walmart and buy a t.v., BUT dont arrange payment in FULL. The insurance companies should be MANDATED to maintain the policy thru its life. If a scumbag or uninsurable person applies for coverage they should be DENIED coverage. Insurance companies continue the CHAOS because they are not held accountable for letting a policy lapse. The lapse in payment has nothing to do with the coverage of the policy.

Cesar Milan, the dog whisperer has a saying.......
'No such thing as a bad dog. There are only bad dog owners'. I am a firm believer in this. Sure it will take alot more work to bring an abused dog into your family versus a well mannered one. However, it is well worth the time and effort to do so.
